I have a group of close friends giving me a baby shower in two weeks. I need ideas of what I can give them as thank you gifts for doing this for me. Would it be inappropriate to give them something dealing with the baby such as a picture frame with the baby's 3-d Ultra-sound picture in it or something personalized with what my child will call them ex. Nanny Heather... Please any ideas would beappreciated .
Should I give gifts to my baby shower host?
You don't need to buy them a gift. However, your idea is sweet and I am sure they would appreciate it!
Reply:The framed 3-D ultrasound picture is a lovely idea. That will no doubt be a wonderful keepsake of the shower and all the great memories of your special day. I think your girlfriends will appreciate it. Good idea!
You could also give gift certificates for a manicure, a Starbucks gift certificate or a massage. Planning a baby shower is a lot of work. I did one for my best friend. She took me out to a nice restaurant for dinner as a thank you. When my husband's sister threw me a baby shower I wrote her a beautiful hand written letter detailing how much I appreciated everything and gave her a magnet that said what a blessing she was to me. On mother's day that year I bought her a beautiful statue of a mother and two little boys as she is the mother of two grown sons and she had tears in her eyes.
Anything thoughtful would be a meaningful way of expressing your thankfulness!
Congratulations new Mommy!
Reply:I don't know if an ultrasound is appropriate really, I am sure they were excited to see it, but it may not mean as much to them as it does to you, in the way of a keepsake that is.
Thank them each for individual things they have done for you during this pregnancy, and how much you value their friendship in a lovely note on pretty stationary, perhaps a small token that has to deal with friendship, making them each different, to show their individual styles or tastes.
Reply:If you want to give them a small token, make it something consumable like a gift card to a restaurant or such. Your baby's ultrasound picture or some other trinket, while thoughtful, will probably end up in a drawer in short order. Even a nice card would be sufficient.
Reply:Don't feel that you have to do anything. The baby shower is all for you. I did just hostess a baby shower where the mommy to be gave us each a small gift. We each got a coffee mug with a single packet of flavored coffee to make, a wrapped homemade lemon square, and a few pieces of chocolate candy. I think it was the perfect gift.
Reply:You could give them each a small gift (I like the personalized idea you have) or take them out for a thank you luncheon or spa day. The very least you would do is send them a handwritten thank you.
Reply:the party is for you, don't feel obliged to buy an expensive gift for the hosts, just give them a nice thank you card with some pictures of all of you from your special day.
