What is the price range for teacher gifts at Christmas and end of year?

I am a woodturner who wants to make beautiful cherry ( red color ) wood lifesize apples with handturned walnut stems and hole for a pencil in the top. My retail price is about $24.00 US and was wondering if this would be too much for a gift. Currently I haven't found any wood apples made out of this nice a wood and finished so well.

That's sounds like a very nice gift for teachers. I say go ahead, what's the hurt? A price range gift is usually about $10 to $20, or so.
Reply:Your apples sound lovely but I am going to recommend against them as a teacher gift. Teachers are inundated with this kind of thing -- we have closets full of them -- mugs, pencil holders, decorations, ornaments, etc., and apples are a common theme. It gets overwhelming to keep and store these gifts. We never want to appear ungrateful because the thoughts are truly appreciated, yet most teachers secretly crave something they can actually use: a gift certificate, for example.

You may want to try to get them in mail order magazines that go out just around Thanksgiving.





Also, try running this question by PTA's. They might be able to use it as a fundraiser and help you sell. Even if not as a fundraiser they can still help get the word out.

Something to make the educator blush is always memorable and appreciated - like a short ad on the telly telling teacher he or she "thank you". If I were your teacher I'd retro fail the other kids and give you a thousand A's - even for classes you didn't take. Bless your heart for remembering your teacher.
