I am getting married in 9 months and was wondering when i should register for gifts? I dont want to register too early, so i was wondering if anyone has registered at 9 months or earlier... Thanks!
How long in advance should you register for wedding gifts?
I agree with the etiquettegal's point that registering before six months you might find that the store no longer stocks certain items that you registered for because they get new bedding and house accessories in at seasonal intervals and discontinue items that they were carrying. I'd wait until the six month mark.
Reply:I registered around 10 months before our wedding. It was a good idea because some people wanted to send gifts after we announced our engagement.

Reply:I was just reading in my wedding planer book and you should register for gifts at 4 months. that gives you pleanty of time.good luck
Reply:You should reggister for gifts as soon as the invitations for any party engagement, bridal shower, lunch, cocktail party to celebrate our planned .
Reply:Umm it's time to do it now. There is not too late date, when you've told everyone your getting married, have those registry's complete so you can get your gifts...smile Your fine, go ahead and register! Wishing you all the luck! Congrats!
Reply:It's definitely not too soon! The only thing to keep in mind is not to register for anything seasonal - because in 9 months it's not still going to be the end of summer. Other than that though, stores will probably still have things like bedding/home decor and will definitely still have china 9 months from now. Good luck!
Reply:It is appropriate to register as soon as you've announced the engagement, this gives family and friends the opportunity to shop early or save for something special that is on your list. Some couples include the line "registered at _________" on the bottom of the engagement announcement. The other advantage of registering early is time management for the Bride and Groom. You can carefully and thoughtfully select items for your home, blend your styles and have the security of knowing that you won't have to return things chosen in haste.
Reply:i think my sis did it abt 2.5/3 months from the date
Reply:Its not too early... get that gun and let loose in a department store or two...
Reply:You are allowed to register any time in between the time you get engaged and when you get married.
Most people will say don't register more than 6 months in advance since many items are seasonal and will get discontinued.
Reply:You should start registering at least 4 months before because sometimes the things on your registry become discounted and you will need to find new things to replace them.
Reply:Do it now because you have spare time at this moment. As the date approaches you won't time to do this as there are other priorities. You can start reseraching what you want and register, as this process is time consuming. You guests don't need to know that you are doing it this early anyway, as this ibformation should be given at the time of the invitation and as the date approaches people are going to start asking anyway.
Good luck and congratulations.
Reply:As long as the store holds your registry for at least one year past your actual wedding date, register as soon as you can. You can always update it should you get items similar to those on the registry.
Reply:Any time. When do you start shopping for a wedding ? Hopefully not the day before.
Reply:register next month cause if u wait they might not have anything you like
Reply:Definately do it now. There is no harm in it and you can update it online. It is a major thing that is nice to get out of the way. Have fun doing it! Make sure you let your soon to be pick out things too. Some couples really fight about this stuff. My husband likes tacky things. So I would let him pick out something he can't get tacky like the glasses. Then I would go off and hit everything I wanted while he was busy. Then he can't tell you no! It worked out great.
Reply:Usually before you send out the invitations.
