I know I do..do you?
The practice of giving gifts at Christmas is traced back to the gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh that were given to the Christ child by the three Magi. The magi were kings from the East, wise men who traveled a great distance following a star, to find the Christ child and to bring him gifts. The visit of the Magi to the Christ child was originally celebrated on the Feast of Epiphany on January 6th. Alot of Spanish people celebrate giving gift in January rather then giving gifts on Christmas day.
How much of the US do you think actually understands why we give gifts at Christmas?
True, and I have some Middle Eastern friends that do on Jan., 7th. I believe that 25%of Americans really know the answer.

Reply:To be honest I did not know that. I think that most of americans don't know that atleast 78% that's about my guess.

Reply:did you just look that up on google?
Reply:That may be historically correct, but it hardly applies today. We give gifts today because it spurs capitalism.
