What to bring as gifts to Japan?

I will be traveling to Japan for the first time this October and while there I will be visiting business associates that I have been in contact with for many years. I have heard that local gifts and gifts of food are good but. I am wondering if these would be good for a man and women in their sixties and also a women in her thirties. Any suggestions for other gifts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Giving gifts to people in which you visit is common in Japan. There are many nice and polite gifts in which you may give. This website has more information about common customs. http://www.japancorner.com/etiquette.asp...
Reply:Food and toiletries are always good gifts, no matter the age!

But if you are looking for something else, what about one of those digital frames with video capabilities (about $100)?
Reply:A good bottle of whiskey will be greatly appreciated by men!
Reply:I absolutley reccomend Alaskan smoked salmon. Don't get the canned kind either. Look it up online and get something from either Southeast Alaska (Juneau, Sitka, or Ketchikan) or from the Copper River. You will be recieved very warmly bearing this gift.
Reply:get some chachkies that say Harvard University

Reply:i think quality california wine is good gift.
