I have never been to a bridal shower. What are good gifts for the bride? Do I get a gift for both the groom and the bride?
What are some good ideas on gifts for a bridal shower?
Gifts are usually for the bride or for the couple's home. Find out if she's registered anywhere and then look over the registry. Many stores will have the registry available on-line which is very helpful. Often you can purchase something off the registry and have it shipped either to you or directly to the couple.
From the registry you'll be able to get an idea of the bride's sense of style and decorating sense. Usually the bride and groom will register for items that they need or want to replace. You can find out their color schemes for the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. This is very helpful if you choose to purchase something not on the registry or if you're hand making a gift.
One of the gifts I like to give is a "pamper basket". I look at the registry to find out the colors the bride has chosen for her bathroom. I then buy a basket at a craft store that will go with the bathroom decor. I fill the basket with scented shower gel, lotion, body spray, shower puff or sponge, a pretty candle w/ holder (that will match the bathroom) and some chocolates. I wrap the basket in tulle and finish it with a bow or ribbon in a matching color. Sometimes I'll tie some pretty silk flowers to the basket too. The basket is so easy to put together and is always a hit. I can usually find all the items (except for the basket, tulle and ribbon) at Target, Walmart or drug store. The whole thing usually runs me between $20-30.
Reply:Something they're registered for. Take it from me, a bride appreciates it when you STICK TO THE LIST. You can always "dress up" or personalize something she wants -- add a fancy cake mix to a bundt pan, or add fun napkin rings to her table linens. But, trust me, they picked those things because they want them.
Reply:Get her a gift certificate to a furniture store.
Reply:I got LOTS of stuff that I didn't need (like a door knocker, for example) so get them something they registered for... or if there is a theme like there was a my sister-in-law's buy something within the theme. Her's was gardens, so we got them a whole garden tool set and a really pretty lily plant for their garden.
Reply:Best bet is to go with a gift card to say a day spa or something like out to eat someplace nice Im sure that they will both enjoy something like that
Reply:dishes or something they can use in their house. i'd get one gift directed to both of them, the party's for the bride, see if they have a list of what they want that could help.
Reply:A friend of mine started a website for gifts, its pretty cool. The website is www.rlanz.ordermygift.com They are gift albums that definantly do the trick. Check it out and let me know if it helps.
