What kind of things should I bring as gifts for a Chilean host family?

It is a family of five living in Santiago, with a pair of twin girls who are 16 and an older daugher who is 20. I will be staying with them for 2 months. I would like to bring them some thank you gifts, preferably from where I'm from (Texas). Any ideas?? Thanks!

You might want to bring some gifts that are locally produced in your area. Gourmet food gifts travel well like jarred salsa or a particular candy. Just be sure to bubble wrap it and seal it in the suitcase. You might want to get some t-shirts that say Texas. How about a set of Texas picture frames? I'm sure you'll be taking plenty of pics with your host family, and leaving a Texas picture frame is a nice touch.

Good luck and have fun!
Reply:You can get some lovely art prints in Texas from local artists. If you do this, put them in a cardboard roll to protect them during your travel. Salsas, pepper jellies, spices, etc. that can be taken cross border. T-shirts, wall decor, make-up would probably be popular with the teens.

Do check with the person in charge of your exchange program to determine what you can and can not take and for ideas.

Have fun!!
