I am looking for reuptable websites that have cool intresting gifts that donate to charity?

For Christmas, I am donating money in each of my friend's names to help with the conditions in Darfur. I would like to accompany this donation with a gift that they would actually love AND use, not the horrible useless tchotchke items I have been coming across. I want something aspiration and inspiring like the (RED) campaign. I would like the proceeds of these gifts to also go to reputable charities-outside of breast cancer. Any thoughts? All replies are appreciated.

There's an organization in the UK called rectifi that you might be interested in.

What is the proper way of announcing your arrival and correct etiquette in distributing gifts for the minions?

I have returned from my semi-annual beaver hunting expedition (and boy is my w****r sore) successful in my hunt. I come bearing gifts of exotic fluffins and hamster ivory. Will the female minions form a line to the right and male ones to the left please.

What is the proper way of announcing your arrival and correct etiquette in distributing gifts for the minions?
You seem to have answered your own question. Next.
Reply:My heart soars like a hawk at your arrival, sore whanger and all. Thine church has't missed thee, and your exotic gifts are praised to hosanna on highest. Not all your minions are female, I hate to tell you, but there is an advantage to that stark reality in that we can share notes. As for forming lines, you can just take that gerbil and put it where the sun don't shine. Welcome back.
Reply:Why not get with the 21st century and email or text those pesky minions. Then they will know to get ready quick smart for your hallowed arrival.

It seems to work for me!
Reply:You mean you leave without warning and disappear for several days, and you expect us to renew our allegiance to you for a few knick-knacks??? Things have changed while you were away, I'm afraid. So you'll have to do better than that.

I want a fur coat. Hamster.
Reply:As long as you are not bringing washboards, I will accept your pelts.
Reply:This is the fourth or fifth time but this is final now....YOU'RE FIRED! Go down to the basement clean out your locker (the filthy one) leave the keys with Mrs Rufflebush and return the company shopping trolley. Mr Penfold and myself will take care of the Church's endeavors and business strategies. And we don't trust Greeks bearing gifts either.

And that white bracelet on your arm is NOT a new Swatch watch

Its for mental patients it reads:"Under continuous medication return wearer to the hospital".
Reply:I'm with Annabella on this and the firing bit. With you being fired out of a high speed cannon in the works shopping trolley with your high balls taking full pelt and on exit having the elastic band machine aimed at your already sore wanger. Then forced to sing Hosanna over and over to the re-appointied one, whomever wants the job.

By the way I've turned conservationist and will have to slap a fine on you for partaking in the hamster ivory safari and helping yourself to endangered fecies, a large amount of exotic fluffins, and hamster ivory.

You may have to be imprisoned in fact while I'm here I will take you away myself, and anything you say, WILL be held against you.

Now you can put that down for starters you won't be needing it where you're going, laddy!.........
Reply:This is just silly. You have had more second comings than Dirk Diggler. BTW i just got a report in of an unconfirmed sighting by a blind hallucinating compulsive liar of a possibly unattached female in a previously unexplored region of equatorial New Guinea although it might have just been an orangutan or possibly nothing at all. Shall I pack your machette and rohypnol master?
Reply:First, you must mount your steed, then parade through Rome triumphant. But, to preserve your humility, you must have pages run alongside and shout to you, "You stink, ay!"
Reply:Give us three rings on the bat phone and we will know you got our gifts home safely. Then just leave them on the doorstep and you will find our thankyou note tucked in the milk bottle.
Reply:What is this stench here? Oh Stooge has decided to grace us with his presence. I'll say shoot him now and split the money.

And that ain't bad.
Reply:It's the same etiqutte you use for grlkbreath!...part %26amp; parcel...
Reply:Well it's about time! I think Tyler had one more gerbil question left before he got fluffinsnuffed.

Looks like they've fired you again, I hope the gifts are enough to sooth their pain of you going AWOL. The Minions are here now so let's get the meeting started. I have packing to do.

How would you feel if everybody in the company receive gifts except you?

I just happened this week when the CEO gave gifts to all of the employees that I work;however I didn't receive one. Also, I work for the company more than 1 year. How would you feel if everybody receive gifts except you?

How would you feel if everybody in the company receive gifts except you?
I would ask your superior why it was that you didn't receive a gift. So that is doesn't sound weird just say that you were worried that they are not happy with your job performance. This way you can bring it up in a way that allows you to look like you are trying to be the best employee. Good luck, but really say something because that is not right.
Reply:i'd look for a new job. You are not liked for whatever reason. Do not go soliciting / asking for a gift. It does not make you look good. If you like this job, try to do a better job / figure out the personalities so that you are on the list next year. If you don't like the job that much, then I would get out of there. EITHER WAY ... I'd leave. In the best case, they are inneficient and forgot you (not acceptable) OR they deliberatly ommitted you ( not acceptable ) . Both are dealbreakers for me. I'd be out of there no later than spring. Have a week vacation in between jobs and forget about stupid or petty people ! Your better than that . Sorry this happened. Happy Holidays !
Reply:Perhaps he forgot you from his list. Or, perhaps he has purchased gifts for others because he considers them not just co-workers, but personal friends. In any event, don't let it affect you. Gifts are much nicer when they are received from friends and loved ones, and not from people out of obligation.
Reply:just walk out then. l would feel so embarassed
Reply:I would probably be upset.
Reply:I would feel absolutely terrible. I would probably act like it was no big deal, or not discuss it at all. Then I would go home and express my concern, disappointment, and embarrassment with being the only one that did not get a gift.
Reply:I have worked at places that required the hourly employees to contribute to a gift for management. I didn't want to but if your name wasn't on the card with the gift you knew the new year wasn't gonna be so good. I'm sorry you got treated this way.
Reply:I would be hurt honestly, everyone else recieves something except for me, i think I would be pretty hurt and feel like I mean nothing to the company....NO one appreciates me...

What gifts are given to a student graduating high school?

Traditional gifts given to grandchildren by a grandparent after their high school graduation ceremony. Nothing too expensive.

A token of recognizion for their success. Something that says we're proud of your accomplishments.

What gifts are given to a student graduating high school?
a car
Reply:A car, their passport, and lots of cash. That's what they generally want. Maybe electronics. Like a MP3 player, laptop, game consuls.
Reply:My grandmother handed down my great-grandmother's wrist watch. My grandmother on the other side crocheted me an afghan. My grandfather made me a cedar hope chest (of course, he was a carpenter). My step-grandmother gave me a Bible with my name engraved on the front. My point is, they gave me things that had personal meaning and that I would treasure forever. These are the gifts that stick in my mind. . . I can't even remember the things I got from everybody else, and the money only lasted as long as my senior trip that year.
Reply:You could buy him something useful that he would use daily. like a money clip. I found some great ones that I could personalize on http://mymoneyclips.com/gold-money-clips... and when your grandson is older it is something that would never be viewed as juvenile but more classic.
Reply:a special book? something that they could keep forever..=).. idk thats what i would want and im in high school. i wouldn't want a mp3 or something from my grandparents..i would feel bad cus they spent so much money
Reply:Gift Cards. Balloons. Flowers. Bears?
Reply:a watch or a nice pen and pencil set. I got stationary set and a book of fmailar quotes.
Reply:A nice pen, or watch, or jewelry (for a girl)? It's more the thought than anything. Or pass down one of the above that you've had since you were young.
Reply:watches (you can never go wrong)

heirloom (something special)

money (if you grandchild is going to collage it might be what they need)
Reply:Congratulations on your grandchild's success! Here are some ideas: A really nice keepsake frame for their diploma, or a photo frame for their graduation/Senior photo, could be personalized with engraving of their name and graduation date. If they are going to college, then a gift certificate to a stationery/office supply or bookstore, or even to the college's bookstore. This is a bit old fashioned, but possibly a savings bond for their future? Students can always use cash or a pre-paid debit card for use at the place of their choice.

What are appropriate , reasonably priced Christmas gifts for 9 and 12 year old girls?

I have a really small budget but they are the children of my really good friend and I'd like to get them something at Christmas. Any ideas for gifts costing $20 or less? As always, I ask for serious, polite and constructive responses only. NO point gaming , advertising or attacks of any kind. Thank you.

What are appropriate , reasonably priced Christmas gifts for 9 and 12 year old girls?
I'm 14 but maybe I can help.

For the 9 year old how about a Bratz doll? I always liked playing with those. They run from about 15-20$. Or something Hannah Montana like her new Cd.

For the 12 year old what about some jewelry or a movie? I was picky at this age so maybe a GiftCard to the mall, or an Itunes giftcard if she has an Ipod.

If you really aren't sure what to get them, just get them a Giftcard to the mall, I always loved getting that.
Reply:Webkinz.. its a stuffed animal that you can play on-line...kids love them! the cost is 11-13 bucks... plus you can buy clothes for them....you can get them just about anywhere!
Reply:they are at an age were what they want today won't be what they want tomorrow

with that said why not get them gift cards for walmart or some place like that

the day after Christmas everything goes on sale as much as 50 to 75 % off they can get a lot of stuff and have fun shopping most girls their age would really like that

maybe even take them your self

A cute throw pillow for each of their rooms.

A Performance Fleece top/jacket from Old Navy--they have really cute ones.

A gift card to Target, Walmart, Old Navy--anywhere a little bit of money goes a long way--you can get away with $15 a piece at any of these stores.

A comfy pair of pajama bottoms with cute slipper socks. (You can even find full pairs of pajamas for about $15--look for sales at the places mentioned above.
Reply:I like to give books. stop at a used book store and you can pick up way more than at the regular bookstore. kids need to read more books rather than watch TV or play video games. maybe a gift card to the used book store so they can pick out their own!

or you can print out a coupon to take them roller skating or ice skating and pizza after wards, nice gift for the mom too to get the kids out of the house for a bit!
Reply:An age appropriate DVD

Gift cards are good but impersonal

Clothing still age appropriate

Slippers Cute slippers

body lotions shower gel gift packs

Have fun and be creative.
Reply:movie tickets. They have a lot of time off school during holidays and need to get out of the house.

Give them a little stocking or basket with some hand lotion, gift card for a manicure, and tip money. My sister is 10 and she's all about a $10 manicure. Some places do kids manicures for less than that.
Reply:I just got a 9 year old a barbie style head for 14.99 and then had ones for 9.99 on sale at toys r us. They are normally $25-30.

For the 12 year old- hit Marshall's- there is a ton of juicy couture tee shirts out on the clearance stores- they must have made too many last year. But the kid's still love them.

I just saw a cute one that said Nice Girls are Juicy in hot pink for $14.99- would have bought it, if it was my size. Stuff in in the woman's- try smalls and mediums.
Reply:How about a Dance Dance Revolution? Both girls can share it and is a perfect gift for a 9 and a 12 year old. Buy the one that connects directly to the television.
Reply:maby you could go to the payless store (where i bought my pretty shoes) and buy some shoes...most of them are less than 20 each...or when i was that age i tended to lean towards things that smelled really good...like matching perfume with lotion and or bodywash..like maby at victoria secrets...? or some other places...
Reply:There are all these kits where they can make their own jewelry, beads etc, girls of this age are just getting into jewelry and girly things, and they need things to keep their hands busy! They are old enough for the small parts, and the price should be right in your range, also if mom %26amp; dad are ok with it play make up is great, they can practice the art with cheap easy to clean up kids make up. Good luck.
Reply:Any kind of Bratz dolls or paperdolls....hair accessories...barbie dolls, Hannah Montana anything.....magazines for early teens, any kind of perfumes, make-ups and finger-nail polishes. purses and clothes for their age. Anything "girlie" will work because they are called "Tweens" the age between kid and teen. Good-Luck
Reply:My Grands love board games!

Throw-a-way cameras are good too. They can do a lot with that and it makes them feel special to have their own camera, and they take excellent pictures...

There are cool DVDs of kids shows that are like 3 for 10.00 out there too.

Also, gift cards to a mall outlet is cool.
Reply:Gift certificates are great. My kids love to get them and they come in handy for trips to the mall for all the Christmas sales when my budget is stretched.

Another great gift is movie tickets, or DVD's. If you live near a party store, they usually sell inexpensive popcorn containers and you can add candy with your tickets or microwave popcorn with your DVD's.

I am sure they will appreciate anything you want to give them though.
Reply:go to ross or marshalls they have nice name brand toys for reasonable prices....
Reply:i actually think that $20 is a lot of money.

by spending expensive it puts your friends under pressure to give back to that amount and youll all end up in a lot of debt.

talk together with your friend and both of you take the families for a day out to the cinema for a treat for xmas . im sure they would rather spend the time with you all

make it a xmas tradition
Reply:the new elmo toy. I saw it on the today show.......so cute!!!

What are some awsome recipes for gifts at Christmas?

I am looking for some tride and true no fail recipes that I won't have to worry about not coming out right. Cookies, candies, gifts in a jar, muffins, brownies, bars, etc.

I really like to give food for Christmas.... tell me what you think!

What are some awsome recipes for gifts at Christmas?
BREAD-IN-A-JAR FOR GIFT GIVING

This recipe is easy to do, but the instructions must be followed exactly. The nicest thing about giving Bread-In-A-Jar is that those who receive it can keep it until they get over the holiday food blahs.

Bake in pint size wide mouth canning jar, seal immediately upon removing from the oven. It will keep on the shelf for up to one year. Take jars out the oven one at a time. When jars have cooled enough to handle them, tighten the tops. As jars cool, they will seal. 2 2/3 c. sugar 4 eggs 2 c. canned pumpkin 2/3 c. water 3 1/3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ground cloves 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2/3 c. nuts

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, pumpkin and water. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and spices. Add to pumpkin mixture into greased wide mouth pint jars, filling half full. Bake at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. When done, remove one jar at a time, wipe sealing edge with paper towel or cloth and screw cap on tightly. The heat will vacuum seal the jar and the bread will keep up to one year.

Makes 8 pints.

VARIATIONS:

Substitute for pumpkin, one of the following:

2 cups shredded apples or carrots

1 bag whole ground fresh cranberries

1 can whole cranberry sauce

1 3/4 cup applesauce plus 1/4 cup pineapple

1 3/4 cup applesauce plus 1/4 cup raisins

2 cups mashed bananas

2 cups apricot

2 cups shredded zucchini

2 cups chopped fresh peaches

APPLE PIE IN A JAR

4 1/2 c. sugar

2 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. salt

3 tbsp. lemon juice

1 c. cornstarch

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

10 c. water

Apples to fill 7 quart jars

Peel and slice apples. Mix all ingredients except apples and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick and bubbling. Add lemon juice.

Fill hot jars 1/3 full of sauce; pack with apple slices and add more sauce to within 1-inch of top. Adjust lids and process in water bath canner for 25 minutes.

For pies, pour contents of jar into prepared pie crust. Dot with butter. Top with crust and bake at 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes.
Reply:i know this is simple but its easy and fun!

get some pretzel rods and melting chocolate..white or milk choc. and dip the pretzel in the choc after melted leaving the bottom two inches plain to hold, then decorate with peppermint or green and red drizzled dyed white chocolate.

Reply:*******SPICE CAKE IN A JAR

2/3 c. shortening

2 2/3 c. sugar

2 c. applesauce

2/3 c. water

4 eggs

2/3 c. nuts (optional)

3 1/3 c. flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cloves

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. baking soda

Cream shortening and sugar; add applesauce, water and eggs; mix well. Mix dry ingredients in another bowl and add to first mixture. Add nuts (or raisins) if desired. Spray wide mouth pint jars with Pam and fill about 1/2 full. This will fill 6 to 8 jars. Bake at 325 degrees exactly 45 minutes. Remove jars one at a time and quickly screw the lid on each jar. Let set until ready to eat. When you use canning jar lids this cake has a shelf life of a year. A great gift idea!

Nut Bread in a Jar

This bread is made in jars, and baked in the oven. The bread lasts indefinitely because in essence, it is canned. Can be made well ahead of the holidays.

Ingredients

2/3 C. shortening

2 3/4 C. sugar

4 eggs

2 C. pumpkin, fresh pureed or canned

2/3 C. water

3 1/3 C. flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. cloves, ground

1/2 tsp. allspice

1 tsp. cinnamon

2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 C. walnuts, chopped or crushed

8 wide mouth jars with lids and rings for sealing, (8 pint-sized or 4 18-oz. jars)

8 wax paper circles cut to fit - inside; jars

Directions

Cream shortening and sugar together, adding sugar slowly. Beat in eggs, pumpkin and water. Set aside. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, ground cloves, allspice, cinnamon and baking soda. Add to pumpkin mixture and stir well. Stir in nuts. Pour batter into greased canning jars, filling only half-full. Place jars in a pan of water. Bake upright in preheated 325-degree oven for about 45 minutes. (Cake will rise and pull away from sides of jar.) When done, remove one jar at a time from oven. If cake rises above the top of the jar, slice off the excess.

While still hot, place wax paper circle on the top end of the cake. Wipe sealing edge of jar. Place lid on jar and close tightly with ring. Turn jar upside down. (Cake will loosen at this time.) Repeat with other jars. Leave jars upside down until sealed. (Jar is sealed if lid remains flat when pressed in center.)

To serve: Open jar, slide a knife around inside of the jar to loosen the cake, and remove the cake from the jar. Warm cake in the oven if desired, or slice and toast. Slice and serve with whipped cream or butter. Because the jar is sealed, the cake keeps indefinitely. It can be made ahead of the holidays.

Substitute for pumpkin:

2 cups shredded apples or carrots

1 bag fresh ground cranberries

1 can whole cranberry sauce

1 3/4 c. applesauce plus 1/4 cup pineapple, crushed

1 3/4 c. applesauce plus 1/4 cup raisins

2 cups mashed bananas

2 cups apricots

2 cups fresh peaches, chopped

Merry Christmas!!
Reply:If you are giving homemade treats, you can experiment with the Toll House cookie recipe, using different kinds of chips...they have a lot of really extravagent ones now. Just use them as as straight sub. My personal fav is andes mint bits but you could use cinnamon, peanut butter chips, white chips, the filled choc chips with syrup in them, etc.

Toll House is an excellent basic cookie recipe. How you dress it up is totally your call.

I made a homemade instant coffee mix that is similar to Gen Foods instant coffee, which is good for at the office, etc.

I start with Folgers crystals, but walmart of all places has an instant arabica coffee that is very good, and of course you can use decaf if you like. I run it through the blender to powder it up so it mixes well with the other ingredients.

Then you add powdered milk, I personally like Nestle Nido because it is powdered WHOLE milk. If you want skim, you can use whatever kind you like.

Then you add powdered flavored creamer. Sugar free and fat free is available in some flavors. I always make mine with hazelnut.

Then you add sweetner or sugar.

You put this in an airtight container with a good lid and some room left at the top, and shake it until it is well combined. Then scoop into a pretty jar.

The recipe is about 1 part coffee to 2 parts everything else, excluding sweetners. But you would make it and sample it as you go, making it to your taste.

IF you are really ambitious, you might try making your own wine, or a microbrew beer.

You can make large batches of spaghetti sauce and can it.

You can purchase different spices and make rubs, marinades, or salad dressings, or popcorn toppings.

You can give a table top herb garden.

You can also do theme baskets where you combine some gourmet ingredients use up, and some neat kitchen tools to keep. Example: different varieties of baking chips and flavor extracts, and then a whisk, a silicone spoonula, some measure cups and spoons, a silpat cookie sheet liner...and tuck them all in a mixing bowl, and place it all on a cookie sheet and wrap it in cellophane with a pretty ribbon.

i got this from Phil Vickery's 'a passion for puddings' book (yes, i brought a Phil Vickery cook book! lol)

they look very well presented in cubes in a box with baking parchment paper, and i think they will make an ideal gift....

397g can of Carnation Condensed milk

150ml milk

450g demerara sugar

100g butter

150g glace cherries (halved)

50g stem ginger (chopped)

*grease 20cm square cake tin with baking paper

*heat both milks, sugar and butter in large pan on low heat until sugar dissolves completely.

*bring to boil and simmer on low heat for 10-25 min - stirring continuously and scraping the base until soft balls of fudge are formed when a little of the mixture is dropped into a jug of ice cold water.

* remove from heat and beat by hand until thick and grainy

*gently stir in the remaining ingredients. pour into tin and cool before cutting into squares.

it makes about 1 kg, and looks very tasty...if you like fudge of course :)

NEXT: CRUSH UP 3-4 OF YOUR FAVORITE CANDY BAR (I USE BUTTERFINGER BECAUSE IT CRUSHES BETTER AND MAKES A BETTER LOOKING TOPPING) AND SPRINKLE OVER THE TOP.

CHILL UNTIL READY TO EAT......

TAKE OUT AND ENJOY!!!!!!
Reply:I adore giving out cookie mix. I take a quart jar and layer in all of the dry ingredients for homemade cookies. Then I include a recipe card attached with a ribbon around the jar. You could also include a cookie cutter as well. Very cute and economical.
Reply:Homemade vanilla is great. Just add some vanilla beans to vodka and leave sitting until christmas. Shake every once in a while. Decant into smaller bottles.

I help support my parents by sending them money every so often. Can I deduct my gifts from my taxes?

Are money gifts to help support my parents tax dedudictible and do they have to declare my gifts as income?

I help support my parents by sending them money every so often. Can I deduct my gifts from my taxes?
No, gifts are not deductible by the giver nor taxable to the recipient. The only tax break you could get for the money you send would be if you were able to claim them as dependents. But from your question, doesn't sound like that's likely. It would have to be over 1/2 of their total support that you're giving them, and if they had over $3400 in gross income then you couldn't claim them.
Reply:If you provide over 50% of thier income you can file for an exemption.
Reply:No. Gifts are not tax deductible. If you give over $12,000 per person per year, you have to pay a gift tax, not the recipient.
Reply:Let me try to answer your question from three aspects.

1. Only gifts to qualified charitable organizations qualify as charitable deduction on your Schedule A, Itemized Deductions. Your monetary gifts to your parents are personal in nature, thus they do not qualify as your charitable deduction.

2. Your parents,as payees, do not have to include your monetary gifts to them in their gross income. On the other hand, the payer has to pay gift tax if your gifts exceed $12,000 in a year.

3. Your support to your parents might qualify you to claim them as your dependents provided you satisfy other criteria. In this case, your are entitled to $6,600 (2006) exemption deduction and you might file as Head of Household, which is more beneficial than filing as Single.

I hope this answers your question.

Why are businesses not letting me give away gifts to people on their property?

I want to know if it is illegal to give away gifts to people? If so, that is wrong. I already had two businesses blow me off, on letting me give away gifts on their property. I just do not understand.

I will not put up my web site address. Because you might think this is spaming. This world is unreal. If you want my web site address, then click my profile.

Why are businesses not letting me give away gifts to people on their property?
Businesses may not want the responsibility or liability associated with you giving things to people on their property.
Reply:All the replies I've read here are excellent. They bring out some real good points. There is one other thought, and that is: Even if what you're doing is absolutely legitimate, and you really are giving away things for nothing (I agree you're not telling us the whole story), if they let you do it, they'll have to let anybody who wants to give things away do it, also. They can't discriminate. "Let one do it, you have to let them all do it."
Reply:its called "Premises liability" , you might give someone something that can harm them, while in their property , then the person can sue them for allowing u to hurt hurt him/her in their premises. Or poisoning them :) ,
Reply:The only reason that i can think of is, that the businesses are afraid that it may scare customers away and that it is called soliciting regardless if you are giving them away or selling them, in the end the businesses think that it is inappropriate.
Reply:When you are on a businesses property they can say what you will and will not do there. They will not allow you to distract or hassle their customer. You should respect this. Always ask if what you are going to do is okay with them and you can avoid being kicked off the property.
Reply:If I had a store and people were being made uncomfortable by the presence of someone "loitering" outside my store for wahtever reason, I would want him moved.
Reply:So the real point of your question is that you want people to request your web site, so that you can spam them.

As for the rest, there's very few actual "gifts" in this world. My guess is that the business owners see you as the grifter that you are, and don't want your actions lowering their customers opinion of them by thinking that they agree with your actions.

There's a thing called "the smell test." This "they're only gifts" line smells to high heaven, flunking the test.
Reply:Giving away "gifts" is usually a way to advertise for some product or service. You can't blame people for not wanting you to advertise in their store.
Reply:yes,, im from detroit and its called solicitation and it is illeagal in michigan,, you are soliciting and illegally taking costomers from their establishment, w/ o their permission,, you are also trespassing on private property,,,,

youre lucky they didnt have you arrested on site,,,, they pay for that property and in order for you to legally sell your items there or around any business for that matter,, you need to enter into a legal contract w/ them ,, if you dont,,,, then,,,,

i suggest you start looking for some small shop to start your business, that way its legal and you control the shots,,

until you do though you will always run into this problem,, establish yourself as a legitimate business,,not a solicitor and you will see better results,,,,
Reply:Probably because they do not want their customers harrassed as they come or go. Most people think that someone handing out gifts is some type of gimmick. If it was my business, I'd have you ran off too.
Reply:Business do not want their customers annoyed with people approaching them for any reason.

I find it hard to believe you are simply handing out gifts. Are you proselytizing? Campaigning? Recruiting?

You are not telling us the entire story. If you see me on the way in... don't bother me please.

As far a the legal issue... If it is a mall or plaza the store owners are protected because even the parking lot is private property. City streets is a different issue.

What are some very inexpensive gifts a 3 year old would like?

I have a daughter who is 3 and I am going to go Christmas shopping for her but I swear the kid likes the cheap toys or the box it comes in better than anything else! LOL

What are some good ideas for gifts?

What are some very inexpensive gifts a 3 year old would like?
Just get her a big box. Then it can be a house, a car, a space ship or anything that she thinks it can be. You might even cut windows in it that she can open and close.
Reply:be careful, kind of hard to pick out toys with all the lead poisioning, recalls and aqua dots putting kids in comas.
Reply:I know, my house is full of 99 cent store toys! my daughter loves playdough, crayons, little stuffed animals - anything that is small. Also, at around 3, she started getting into 'princess' stuff, so Disney movies should also do the trick. Or dress-up stuff. have fun
Reply:Well children at that age are very attentive, especially to things that make noise or are very colorful. A big box as some people told you just wont work because she's prone to get bored with that after a while. But they have things like games that you can plug into your television and do activities or there are dolls that laugh or talk. One toy that worked in my family with the children was the talking/vibrating Elmo doll. My nieces and nephews stayed glued to that toy for months. Among other things there are dolls that dance which I have noticed to be a favorite among most girls in that age range. All these toys can be found at very low prices. Good Luck with shopping......
Reply:A flashlight.
Reply:I don't know if you have a big lots around you, but they have some really cute and extremely cheap toys.
Reply:In my experience, the box the toys came in. Get a box and decorate it - they'll play with it for days.
Reply:One year my toddler nephew got all this fancy stuff...reel expensive from the whole family, but I wuz pore, and bought him a plastic car ($1.98) and some bubble soap (%26amp;.79). He

liked my gifts the best! My sibs were a little miffed!
Reply:Brat dolls

Barbie dolls

Elmo

Dora
Reply:Some chunky puzzles, and she is getting old enough to be able to get candyland, and chutes and ladders. Most can be found for around $5.
Reply:My 3yr old daughter wants a lap top like her dad. They are going really cheap on ebay and because they dont use them very much they are as good as new.
Reply:Coloring books and stickers are super cheap.
Reply:Bubble wrap.
Reply:What about some cheap board games like Memory, Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders? They are appropriate for 3 and up. Is she creative? Play Doh, Coloring Books, Finger Paints are good.
Reply:Building blocks or those really large legos
Reply:A card board box.And im not trying to be funny, kids these age find these very amusing and great for building there imaganation.Or even better try toys r us to find a play house of some sort.
Reply:I have a 3 year old boy, and he is interested in blocks...or anything with letters.
Reply:well ask her what she would like. then check toys-r-us for the best deals
Reply:my nieces when they were 3 yrs old loved puzzles and drawing stuff. they also liked simple card matching memory games. Anything Disney. Cinderella was a big hit.
Reply:anything mental, thats to say to do with puzzles and logic getwm when theyre young, colouring books, interactive dvd games
Reply:shiny, dull edged objects too big to swallow...
Reply:Get a bunch of boxes (shoe boxes are good), paint them all different colors (inside and out) and get some small people figures, animals and - voila- you've got a house! She can move around all the "rooms" and decorate the inside by drawing windows (project for the 2 of you together), attaching scraps of fabric for window shades, building simple furniture. You can get some wood blocks for beds! Be creative - this is a fun, interactive and inexpensive project. And it'll give you more constructive play time together.
Reply:Crayons and a coloring book. I went out and bought my kids all this stuff when they were like 3-5 years old and they loved the crayons and coloring books and boxes the stuff came in the most. I bought them a bunch of boxes one year. They loved it!
Reply:If have a "dollor store", "99Cent stuff" or "dollar tree"in your area you may want to try looking there. They've got tons of toys.
Reply:Find her a huge box and draw on it to make it look like a play house.
Reply:How about DVDs that you both can watch together. 3 is a great age for developing language skills, colors, and even math! I hear the Einstein series is great for kids. Merry Christmas!
Reply:a tri-cycle, then she can have a cool toy and a big box!
Reply:many times kids that young are more thrilled with the packaging of their present than the actual present ;)
Reply:get some educational toys those are the best ones and they can learn with them
Reply:Educational items that are cheap~books, puzzles, playdoh or clay, finger paints and paper, anything crafty really.
Reply:i know exactly how you feel. I have a 3 year old and she is not a picky kid at all. She is really into baby dolls. She likes to put them to sleep, feed them...that sort of thing. She likes barbies also. Shes been eyeballing that Rose Petal Cottage on the tv lately. Its the cutest thing. Anything to do with outside too. Also, drawing and coloring!!!

My suggestion is get her something thats going to keep her active. Im getting my daughter a trampoline for christmas (the one with the net around it) and also a new babydoll and Rose Petal Cottage. There not all that expensive.

Are these gifts enough for a baby shower or should I buy more?

I made a diaper cake with full pack of diapers, 1 bottle, 2 pacifires, 2 spoons, 6 wash clothes, 1 brush, %26amp; 1comb. I also got a gift set with a piggy bank and a box for first curl and first tooth. Is this enough or should I buy a few more small gifts?

Are these gifts enough for a baby shower or should I buy more?
That is also more than enough for the wishing well. You must cut alot of coupons and have a few part time jobs with the pay comming in for an Army wife. You did great!
Reply:Ouch, did that really hurt? Hopefully soon there will be an enlistment for a "special unit", that will be better trained and PAYED the same as Blackwater, only with medical coverage when they finally become just a Veteran. and you did do great Report It

Reply:That sounds like a very nice gift. Just add some change in the piggy bank and a card and you are good to go.
Reply:no thats a good amount of stuff..make sure you put a bit of change in the piggy bank...its good luck for the giver of the piggy bank to put money in it when you give it as a gift

Sell stuff you don't need on e-bay or shovel snow. Don't you have a credit card? Borrow some money.
Reply:it's a little late to start looking for money now. if you got a job this week by some miracle, you wouldn't be paid until after Xmas
Reply:If there is snow where you life, go door to door asking if folks want theirs removed from the sidewalks for a couple bucks.

If not, try leaf removal, newspaper removal, general cleaning stuff.

Turn in scrap metals to the junkyards, aluminum, copper, tin and such.

If you are determined, you can do it.
Reply:I used this when I was younger...

If you are under 16 this works like a champ!:

Find a tree with mistletoe in it. (Dark green patches of leaves where the rest of the tree has none) Climb up and break it off of the tree. Collect the plants with a contractor bag. Take it home carefully (don't knock off the white berries) bundle the plant with some red ribbon ($.75 / 100 yds). After making each bundle sell for $2/pc door to door. OR take them to the local produce sections and sell 50 for $40 to several stores/farmers markets... This season they sell like hot cakes!

How to save for gifts at Christmas time?

I am a homemaker, so money is a little tight. With a husband and daughter, what are some things I can do now, October 16th, to save and cut back so I can get gifts for christmas. I would really like to go out for black friday, so I guess that would give me alittle over a month. We try to save at least $400 a month.

How to save for gifts at Christmas time?
Have your husband's employer set his dependants high for 2 months. This will give you a "Christmas bonus". More money will go to you each pay period. If that doesn't work, get a red bucket and a bell.
Reply:This is what I do, but I do it all year.

When I'm paying for anything, I put the change in my pocket, when I get home, I drop the change in a gallon size pickle jar, that I bought from Walmart, and cleaned out, after my kids ate the pickles.

Also, all year, we have a cup on the kitchen table, if you do something bad, you pay the price. Like my kids like to belch, that is 10 cents. My youngest daughter has learned to spit, 15 cents. Of course don't leave yourself out, if I cuss, it cost me 50 cents.

These are just examples, we have more, but nothing costing more than 50 cents. As they quit doing one thing, something else gets added. And beleive it or not friends and family members get invovled. When my friends come over, if they cuss or light up a cigarette in the house, my kids call them on it, and they drop their money in the cup. My kids make their friends pay too, if they belch, spit, whatever.

You'd be surprised at how much you have at the end of the year.
Reply:Open a savings account just for Christmas ...that way you can save your money all year round .
Reply:cut back on things that aren't necessary. pay your bills and only your bills. if your husband eats out everyday for lunch, suggest he take his lunch instead. take the money you'd spend on a family night out, fast food, unnecessary splurges, etc and put it into a savings account. those little amounts add up quickly.

preparing for next year, deposit $25 (or whatever you can comfortably afford) a paycheck into a savings account. get a jug and put any change you have leftover from shopping, you find in the washer/dryer/couch, etc, in the jug. you'll be surprised how quickly it all adds up. you might have enough left over after shopping to get a nice family present.
Reply:Open a Christmas Club account with your local bank. If they don't have one, then just open a regular savings account. You won't have it for this year but you'll be ready for next year. Make yourself put so much in that account each week or paycheck. It will add up over time.
Reply:We direct Deposit $225 from each of my wife's paychecks from Sept. to Dec. into an account that we have no debit/ATMcard for. That way we don't get at it and spend it. It makes things tight for those first 4 months of the school year, but we end up with about $2000 to spend on gifts.

What are some creative but inexpensive homemade gifts for Christmas?

Last year my boyfriend and I went on a crazy shopping spree and spent well over $2,000 on gifts for everyone in the family (both his and mine) for Christmas. We've had some financial hardships this years (getting a new apartment and a new job) and we can't afford to go all out this year. We still wanna give a little something to them anyways, but we are thinking things like Christmas cards with a picture or maybe small key chains. Anyone else have any other ideas on creative, inexpensive gifts for Christmas?

What are some creative but inexpensive homemade gifts for Christmas?
Make cookies and give them in nice gift boxes.
Reply:My wife and I were in a similar situation. We had a good year and were able to give elaborate gifts to our family. But we buffered their expectations for the next year by telling them that the coming year might not be as profitable for us. We were right - it wasn't!

The cookie idea is a good one if you are proficient in the kitchen. If you are, pastries, pie, or a homemade cheesecake would put a smile on their faces too. My favorites are fudge truffle cheesecake or maple pumpkin cheesecake. Very festive.

Apart from that, the best thing to do is keep your ears open around the gift recipient or ask mutual friends and family what others may want. I now write things down throughout the year whenever I hear someone say, "Man, I'd love one of those!" If you can actually meet a need, that shows you are thinking about them. For my dad, I got all the little tidbits for his garage and workshop that make his work easier but don't cost much. I got carriers for his extension cords, little battery push lights for spaces that didn't have good lighting, etc. Likewise, I got my mom new gadgets for the kitchen to replace her old and worn out ones. Also, look for opportunities to give complete sets of things where they currently have to mix and match. I got my mom a nice set of 24 glasses to replace the odd batch of mixed up sets in her cupboard that she'd accumulated over the years. Not expensive at all, but she really appreciated it.

Another big favorite in my family is to get a wall calendar of some subject that the recipient likes - sailboats, NASCAR, kittens, pretty girls, etc. - and then go through it, writing down all the birthdays and anniversaries for the family. A lot of places can take your pictures and custom make a calendar for you. That can be really sweet, since you can do pictures of you growing up for your parents, or get neat old pictures of your grandparents and great-grandparents to do the same thing.

Hope these give you some ideas.
Reply:someone gave me an awesome idea of making gift baskets with baked goods and giving them out. i have something posted for different recipies to try out before christmas. so far chocolate covered pretzels, home made hot chocolate, and sugar cookies seem to be a hit. you could go to the dollar stores to dress them up and divide the recipies as you see fit. it seemed like a good idea to me. im going through the same finantial situation as you and im freaking out about how im going to get gifts for everyone. im going to do the baskets for the family and just buy a decent gift for my parents. im always bored on the weekends, so the cooking before christmas will keep me buisy with all the snow and hassle of shopping that goes on.
Reply:gift baskets are great and you can cutomize to each individual, yummy foods and homemade snacks and little tiny frame or candle is always appreciated
Reply:candy and cookies are always good, wrap in a nice box or tin from the dollar store. you can make ornaments for everybody, or soaps. you can also make mixes in a jelly jar for cookies or bars where they just add a few ingredients and bake whenever. (I have a cookbook called Gifts in a Jar with lots of recipes, you can find them online also) have any good recipes you'd like to share with your family? you can write out the recipe on a recipe card real nice and include whatever utensils or bake ware need for the recipe from the dollar store- Ex: a cream chez dip you can premake the seasonings and divide up into servings sizes and include a holiday chez spreader and a small bowl with the recipe. teas and coffee with a nice mug, a $5 gift card to Blockbuster, some microwave popcorn, some sodas and candy all wrapped in a popcorn bowl for movie night.
Reply:I asked a simular question - you seem to be getting some great ideas and i will be watching this space!!!!! Good luck with your finances and have a wonderful Chrissy!
Reply:Knit some nose mittens .
Reply:Try knitting, make cards, write poems, use leaves to make wreathes, sing a song, make them dinner, bake a cake/pie/cookies/etc., babysit their pets while they go away, give "tickets" (for massage, taking out garbage, etc.), have an announcement given over the radio, clean their house, offer to make a photo album of all their miscellaneous photos.

So many more. . . !
Reply:Well, if you have a creative flair (and maybe some time or long travel rides), you could crochet around the plastic part of flip-flops (I have done these and people LOVE them! Though the pattern-link is not the one I was looking for it is the same thing! Craft stores should have a free tangible copy in with their yarns). They can wear them out or as "slippers". Another idea is to make a book of pictures (though there are many ways to do this, this type is really nice).

Here are the links:

flip-flops (they are very easy to make!) http://www.marloscrochetcorner.com/Furry...

Star book - http://www.geocities.com/mladys/star.htm...

I hope these help! Merry Christmas and GOD bless!!!
Reply:You can buy little ceramic bread pans at the dollar store and make several little breads with one recipe, wrap in foil or plastic wrap, and tie a ribbon around it.

You can also buy some mugs at a dollar store, go on-line to find some recipes to make coffee mixes or hot chocolate mixes, put some in a little sandwich size baggy, tie a ribbon around the bag, plop it in the mug and there's a gift.

Here's another idea. Make some popcorn. Melt some white chocolate (the wafers), and mix it up with the popcorn. Wrap in swatches of plastic wrap, tie tightly with colored Christmas ribbon. It's delicious!! Just make sure the balls of popcorn and white chocolate are hardened before you wrap.
Reply:Bath salts are nice for the people who would enjoy them.
Reply:Why not make mini scrapbooks for everyone? Gather photos that you have on hand (free) and write memories next to them. (Photos of your family members, I meant)
Reply:make bracelets with their names on it

How do you word a wedding invitation requesting money and no gifts?

I have everything I need. I would like cash in lew of gifts. Is there a proper way to say this or should I just except another toaster I don't need. I would like the money for the Honey moon.

How do you word a wedding invitation requesting money and no gifts?
to request a gift of monetary or otherwise is never polite. i would suggest registering at a place where you can put in items that you can use for your honeymoon. luggage travel accessories etc.
Reply:In your case, you should consider having a "honeymoon registry." I'm not sure how they work exactly, but basically guests make a contribution into a registry account that goes toward your honeymoon expenses.

Although you are not really supposed to mention gifts or registries in the actual invitation, maybe you could sneak in a little blurb about it at the bottom of a card with your map/directions to the wedding.

Hope that helps... good luck!
Reply:Please send money.

Just kidding...I suggest you write something like this:

We would love to have you join us for our celebration. May we request that any wedding gift you may wish to offer be of a monetary nature in place of more traditional giving?

Word it any way you wish.

Happy marriage!
Reply:to be honest i dont think theres really a way to say that in an invitation without it sounding rude. sorry. if u do get gifts just return or sell them
Reply:Oh, that is a tough one. It is tacky to ask for money. There is probably a way to do that, but I am not sure what it is. Try asking a wedding planner if they know.
Reply:It is considered rude to ask for money instead of gifts. Perhaps your friends and family will be sensitive enough to realize that you need it, or they might ask what you'd like. I also recommend that you plan a honeymoon that's within your means -- it'll keep you out of debt for later.

I wish you a wonderful wedding and marriage!
Reply:You never ever ask for money or anything else! It is extremely rude to even assume you will be getting a gift. Of course, you will receive gifts, but don't ask for them. And just don't register. If people ask what you need, tell them you have everything you need. Then if the people have a brain, they will give you money. Many people do anyway even if a couple is registered.

You shouldn't expect to others to finance your honeymoon. If you can't pay for it on your own, choose a cheaper destination.

Happy wedding!
Reply:just say i'm a goldigger, money only please.

really tho, just say No gifts 'cause me and george already have everything we need from two households. peeps will give u $ anyway.
Reply:You don't--you just spread the word that your gift registry is your local bank....tacky
Reply:if i were you i would put it this way: it's not that i don't like your very genourous gifts but right now i could really use money to pay for the honeymoon. i hope this isn't to much to ask. thanks so much.

signed your name.
Reply:You don't! It is rude to assume that people are going to give you gifts or money of any kind. If you get something that you already have - return it. (When I got married I got five crock pots, three fondue pots, four toasters, etc. - I took them back and either got the money back or exchanged them for things I needed.)

What I am trying to say is - have some class.
Reply:do a wedding wishing well. u could say "as you are aware we already have most items needed for our home. This is the reason for us choosing a wedding wishing well"
Reply:"Please do not feel obligated to give a gift, but if you choose to do so, monetary gifts are appreciated."

I received two wedding invitations like that in the States, I don't remember the exact wordings but that's pretty much what it said and we understood they like to receive money.

In Chinese tradition it's very common you give money and in Germany they just write some kind of rhyming words like, we already have everything we need but if you wish to give us money we'll not going to say no. Well, it sounds much better in German lol

How to make a cupcake mix to put in baggies for gifts?

What are ways one can save money when shopping for Christmas Gifts?

Late November and the month of December is a busy time for retailers nationwide in the United States as Americans purchase Christmas gifts from both family and friends. Although this is the time of giving back to others, as a result, many Americans spend more than they can afford, charge too much on their credit cards, and go into debt with their charges.

What are some suggestions you would give to a friend in order to save money during the Christmas Season?

What are ways one can save money when shopping for Christmas Gifts?
Use only cash - you'll spend a whole lot less and you'll be guaranteed not to go into debt.
Reply:Buy all of next years gifts the days after xmas

This year you are too late.

Dollar stores, but don't purchase Made in China food related items ie coffee mugs, eating and cooking utensils

China is paying the USA's debt with money they get by selling us product. We buy from them, they buy from us, everybody happy---Yes?

Or be like me.

Don't observe.
Reply:For one thing, there isn't any reason somebody can't enjoy a homemade gift as much as a gift from the store. The problem is that during the Christmas season, many forget what the real reason for giving gifts is. It's not to impress them with how much you spent on them, it's not to show up the other gift givers with your expensive gift, No, it's to show love and appreciation for the contribution that that person has made to your life, and to show that you truly want them as a part of your life, and they aren't just an acquaintance. A gift doesn't have to be expensive or flashy, it just has to come from the heart.
Reply:put a dollar limit on spending,,,,

shop the dollar stores. and outlet malls,

use coupon's,

hand made gifts ( baked goods, hand knitted sweaters )

and buy a gift a pay day till the holiday season,

give a book,

if you collect something pass an item down as a gift ( an example if you collect dolls give some away to your nieces)

look for buy one get one free deals,

burn a CD or a movies for a friend ,

re-use gift bags and bows,

give a Christmas ornament (they come in packages of 6 or more and divide up upon family and friends )

for large family's give a gift card for a grocery store or the movies / video store.
Reply:Pay with cash or debit cards because credit cards are mostly a ripoff and you end up paying high interest and things you really don't need. Also, take a part of what you would normally spend and put it into a high yield savings account.
Reply:Use online coupons. They are a great way for saving money around the holidays. I got all of my christmas shopping done and saved money with coupons at OnlineStoreCoupon.com.
Reply:All of the answers I read to your question were good advice. However, the question was not how to save many on gifts but how to save when SHOPPING for gifts. Do you take risks. Wait until very close to Christmas. You take the chance that an item you wanted is sold out. Many times the stores you visit also have an Internet site. Often better pricing is found on the same items in the store because of lower overhead costs. Many gifts you may want to buy also come in good, better, and best. Do you know the range the person you are buying for usually chooses? Also big brand named items carry a higher cost. Locate the same type of gift with a more generic label.
Reply:Frankly, give experiences instead of gifts.

Gift six weeks of tanning to get ready for the summer.

Go out to lunch, the movies. Give them a gift of skydiving adventure

If your friend has kids, give them a coupon of your services for a night of free babysitting so they can go out on a night on the town.

Fix a couple weeks worth of homemade frozen meals for the elderly/disabled person.

Get a 3 month, 6 month or yearly bus pas or a bunch of bus tickets for a low income person you know who's always taking the city bus.

Make a goodie basket of snacks and popcorn and some coupons to a local video store for free rentals.

Donate $20 bucks to a local nonprofit in their name.

Above all, be realistic. Ignore the urge to outdo your neighbors and friends. Kids don't need mounds of toys to greet them Christmas morning. 3-5 toys each is more than enough.

Stockings can be filled with quirky, (and cheap) one of a kind stuff found at flea markets, party supply stores, thrift stores and dollar stores.

Take back the true meaning of Christmas. It's a time to be with family and friends and to be grateful for what we do have, not be upset with what we can't have.

What are some good gifts to give to teachers at the end of the year?

Keep in mind that these are gifts for 8th grade teachers so it would be my last year at this school. Also there are about 10 teachers so keep cost in mind too...Thanks!

What are some good gifts to give to teachers at the end of the year?
Trust me, teachers have so much accumulated junk in the form of gifts from students that they could live off yard sales for much of their careers.

So, what you get the teacher is something that is going to be used up. If you know for a fact that the teacher loves a particular brand of chocolate, then get that. If you don't know such preferences, don't guess.

Otherwise, it's all about gift cards at restaurants such as Olive Garden, Outback or whatever.

But that's kinda cheesy, right? I mean, is s/he really gonna remember YOU when that card gets used? No, of course not. UNLESS you also present her with a card that has your mug on the inside and says,

"Thanks -everyone in your class is better because of you. I appreciate it and will never forget what you have taught me -both in terms of the (name of subject) and also in terms of just growing up. What I've enclosed is a small token of my appreciation -and if I enclosed a thousand of them, they wouldn't be enough. Hope you enjoy, and please -don't stop teaching any time soon!"

Now get going!
Reply:I agree-gifts are not necessary for 8th grade teachers, especially considering you have so many of them. Cards are appropriate. So is a small box of chocolates or other small food item.

Mugs, bath and body stuff, candles--teachers are drowning in them, they don't need them, and they won't think any better of you for receiving them.
Reply:when you reach middle and highschool, you really can't give gifts, there is too many teachers. Just give them a nice card explaining how you enjoyed the yeat and how they touched you!
Reply:* Giftcards (bookstore, restaurant, craft store)

* Bake cookies and make your own gift basket

* Make gift basket of tea, coffee, hot chocolate

* Gift basket of stationary items

* Pen

* Nice photo frame with your class picture in it

* Candles

* Notepad or Journal

* Desk accessories (pen holder, paper weight)

* Bargain books - Classics, last year's bestseller

Spend some time looking around, many expensive items can be found on deep discount at various bookstores, craftshops, etc.
Reply:Maybe candles, or a gift card to a resteraunt.

What are some good gifts for ten year old girls? It can be as much as $250. No dolls, Disney related things, clothes, or jewelry.

What are some good gifts for ten year olds girls?
As I have a 10 year old girl, this is a great question! Hard though, not knowing exactly what your 10 year old in question already owns.

Mine wants an MP3 player, I asked her to answer your question and she said WEBKINZ! If she has a game system, Dance, Dance revolution. She also loves karaoke for her game system. (We have xbox.) Oh she also said Nintendo DS. Just about anything electronic this day in age is a real hit!

Good Luck!!
Reply:AN I pod
Reply:I always love giving books as gifts. If you know her likes and interests, you can go on gifts.com and take their little quiz about what sort of person she is, and they will suggest all sorts of really cool gifts!
Reply:Nintendo DS :)
Reply:Does she like crafts? A beautiful scrap book kit.

Is she into music? How about some sheet music of her favorite songs?

Does she like photography? A nice digital camera would be great. For $250.00 you could get an awesome one.

An ipod is another good idea, with a gift card to itunes.....

What kind of gifts do Vietnamese people want from the US?

I will be visiting my family next month in Vietnam and would like to bring them some gifts. My mom (who's vietnamese) says that things that are distincty american are a hot commodity (like Levi's, etc) Are American brands big there? My cousins range in age from 22 to 40, male and female. What would be appropriate?

What kind of gifts do Vietnamese people want from the US?
Don't bother bringing garments unless they are "uniquely" American. For instance, my wife's family has an excellent collection of Red Sox/Patriots game jerseys and t-shirts.

High end brands such as Polo, La Coste , etc. are incredibly low priced in Vn ($5 for Polo shirts).

I usually bring chocolate for the women, two bottles of good American bourbon for the men, and toys for the kids. Being a man, I also bring a box of Cuban cigars for our manly style enjoyment (bought at Tan Son Nhut or Inchon International) I travel to Vn often and whenever I see a good sale or go to a discount store, I'll load up on those kinds of things.

Viets on the whole also love electronic gadgets. I don't know your budget, but mp3 players and walkmans are pretty popular. One thing that is a status symbol in Vn is a cell phone. My wife always gets my new cell (from resigning my contract), and passes last years model to someone in her family.

Another really great gift is American food. My most popular request is to bring more jello and pudding. Everyone loves it.

I've also brought canned goods like white clam sauce, "unusual" pasta (multi colored elbows etc) and once, I even brought a live 10 lb Maine lobster.

Last, but not least, is flower and vegetable seeds. Even city dwellers can grow flowers and most Vn veggies are tiny by comparison to what Burpee sells.

Hope this helps !
Reply:When my family and I went to Vietnam, we normally bring chocolate (the Kisses and Hershey one, and M%26amp;M). Vietnamses people love those 3 kinds of chocolate. As for men, they like wine and Herneshy because they said that brand is expensive in Vietnam. So if you give gift to male I would say buy them some wine. As for female, buy them chocolate and some brand clothes.

And if you still can't find a good gift, then I prefer giving them money because with money they can buy whatever they want. Thus, they would buy things that they normally likes best.

have fun in Vietnam.

hopes i can go, but i can't :)
Reply:rice
Reply:US dollar, thats the best. they just keep it in their pocket and make it as a souvenir,a $10 will do each not unless you cousins are rich, make it $100. lol
Reply:everybody likes these gifts
Reply:Assuming you are in contact with your family you should ask. Have your mom actually do the asking so it appears you are only following her advice on presents.

If that doesn't work (or you would rather not ask), take items specific to your area that are also identifiable as American.

For example (I live in New Orleans), I usually take local spices, Cafe du Monde coffee %26amp; chicory, pralines, and logo items (ex. University of New Orleans) as presents. Hershey's chocolate syrup and name-brand peanut butter might work , but find out if the items are available in local grocery stores in Vietnam (ex. Tabasco is everywhere).

Also find out if wrapping is important. I once gave a Japanse friend something wrapped in white (which Japanese view as the color of death).........

Take more items than you think you will need!

What are some good Mothers day gifts from kids?

I want to give all the moms and grandmas in my family cute, homemade gifts from my daughter. She is only 7 months old but I am sure there are still things I can do with her or make with her, and give as gifts. Anyone have any ideas?

What are some good Mothers day gifts from kids?
Handprint magnets? Paint her hand, print it on card, laminate it and cut it out, and stick a craft magnet on the back. Or alternatively stick it on a magnet clip to hold other artwork on the fridge. We do this every year and my mother loves seeing the handprints on her fridge grow.

Also fingerprinting photo frames for the fridge..Just get her to mess around with drops of paint on a piece of card, then cut out the centre of the card to photo size, stick a photo of your daughter in it and stick a magnet on the back. You can also use the centre as the gift card!

Have fun, I hope you find something that you both enjoy.

How can I figure out if I have any paranormal gifts? Is there any excercises I can do to find out ?

Please answer this maturely or don't answer at all!

I have always had dreams about ghosts and future events and sometimes(I'm not completely sure about this) I can hear someones thoughts while they are sitting near me.I am also good with tarot cards and sometimes sense something around me.Is there any way to find out how strong these gifts are or how to strengthen them? Thanks for your time!

How can I figure out if I have any paranormal gifts? Is there any excercises I can do to find out ?
Hey wannabe ;)

I think the best thing to do is to meditate. Not conventional meditation, but get some really nice music without lyrics and relax and try to clear your thoughts.

Something else would be to keep a record of your dreams. Have a book beside your bed and think to yourself before you sleep that you're going to wake up to record your dreams.

You can see a pic of me on my profile. If you think you can hear someone or contact them by using something like a photo you can experiment on me.. Just make sure it's positive thoughts! lol

Note: I have had out of body experiences and other phenomena happen me while sleeping. For my sanity I put it down to lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis. You'll see I answered a question on this yesterday if you're looking for alternative explanations of your gift.

Cheers!

NiceFella ;)
Reply:Have u tried researching Sylvia Browne maybe go to one of her lectures. Keep pen and paper beside your bed. Record all that u can and write how u r feeling during the times of sensing things so u can learn how that feeling really feels.I believe if u can harness that feeling it will grow and strengthen.
Reply:Here's a very mature answer for you from a scientist with publications to her name who has always been interested in the paranormal.

It doesn't work. After extensive study, the only conclusion we can come to is that there are no ghosts, no one can see the future, no one can read minds or see auras or move objects with their minds. No one. Ever, apparently.

If anyone would like to disagree, feel free to prove me wrong. This guy will give you a million bucks for a 5 minute demo of your paranormal ability. http://www.randi.org The money's been available for 30 years now - and no one has come close. Usually, people who claim paranormal abilities are either lying or very deluded. However, only the deluded ones ever try to win the money - the liars know they don't have a chance.
Reply:%26gt;How can I figure out if I have any paranormal gifts?

It's called 'logic'. The key is to look at the known scientific forces and notice that none of them support supernatural activity. Then you can quickly reason out that you do not have supernatural powers because no such powers exist.

Of course, you're probably going to ignore what I say and accuse me of being immature when I state these scientific facts, but that's up to you and it won't prevent me from stating them. I'm hoping, of course, that you will listen to me and understand what I'm saying.

%26gt;I can hear someones thoughts while they are sitting near me.

Hearing voices is not good. If you are hearing or seeing things which are not actually there, it may be advisable to see a psychiatrist, because generally leaving such things alone doesn't lead to anything good (I know this from personal experience).

%26gt;I am also good with tarot cards

No one is 'good' with tarot cards in the sense you're talking about. Different people have different levels of skill at convincing you that a random card means something to you, but none of them are seeing the future any more than anyone else. Tarot cards do not work, they tell your fortune just as well as, say, a cribbage hand would because the mechanics of card shuffling remain the same.
Reply:You can hear thought? No you can't. That is your imagination at best or a psychological pathology at worst.

You're good with tarot cards? No you aren't. Even true believers in tarot will tell you that the suggestions made are non-specific.

Try the online ESP experiments (i.e. dice-guessing game). Run 100 trials. I don't have ESP, but I predict you will fare no better than chance. If you do this enough times and examine the results you will be forced to do one of two things--either admit in light of the evidence that paranormal "gifts" do not exist, or else stick doggedly to your a priori belief that supernatural powers are (despite evidence to the contrary) fact.

Are you intellectually honest enough to admit the truth, or do you insist on deluding yourself indefinitely? I used to employ a much kinder approach, but I have seen too many instances of how the ignorant and superstitious beliefs in the paranormal can do damage.
Reply:i think that is really cool but i dont know anything to do about it though have you checked on the internet
Reply:First off, calm down. The answer I am to give you is this: Stay away from the tarot cards if at all not 100 percent sober. [I am only the messengar]. Having dreams that come tru is considered a form of prophey, that goes away with age. [innocence lost] Same with astral projection. Please protect your self with a cocoon of white lite. Very important. Seek out a know shaman. There is one in Sedona Arizona, most of the best live there. It is dry, which makes it more unemotional, as opposed to living by water, I cry a lot. lol. Have been reading some advice to read up on this. If you have any true inate abilities, you won't really have to read up on much of this. It is better to find someone ready to take you on, and nuture these talents. My husband always asks me, how come, if you are clairvoyant, you have to ask someone's name, and aren't rich? Believe it or not, that question just amuses me and shows just how much ignorance there is out there. He tolerates me. lol. Good luck on your journey. Decided not to give out the healer's e-mail due to some of the useless hostilitly directed into the air. You will find her. She is Mayan
Reply:I doubt there are paranormal gifts. If someone really had any I'd change my mind in a heartbeat.Check them out ,set up a test.Get a skeptic to do it.You don't want a yes person there if you want the truth. If you can read minds it should be easy to test and prove. If you can do it,you'll be rich and famous beyond your wildest dreams.I know this site is put up all the time but if you want the truth. It's the place to go.Good luck
Reply:You can exercise your brain and learn that there is no such thing as paranormal gifts. This is just made-up, imaginary stuff.
Reply:It sounds as though you already know the ansewer to the question! You say you can'sense'things aboout people or events or sense someone's thoughts?First, you need to relax%26amp;trust those presentiments, they're real.I would suggest learning meditation to get the ball rolling,so to speak. It will help clear your mind, tjhe better to learn to channel your gift(that's what it is,so respect it)don't go around calling attention to it%26amp; don't playw/ouija boards, you'll be fine
Reply:There are accepted scientific methods for testing skills of all types.

If you want to test telepathy, you'll need some people to help you. Use a deck of cards to start. Have somebody shuffle the cards and look at the top card. Have them concentrate on the suit of the card. Guess the suit and record your guesses. If you do better than 1 out of 4, you're doing better than chance, but it doesn't "prove" your skills. Next, have your helper concentrate on the number of the card. If you guess better than 1 of 13 you're doing better than chance. Finally, have them concentrate on both the suit and number together. Chance says 1 of 52. None of this is proof, but it will give you a sense of how to experiment. Try to set it up where you can't see your helper and, obviously, can't see the cards. Use different people as helpers to try to avoid bias in the results.

Think you dream of future events? Keep a dream journal. Next to your bed, keep paper and pencil. Write down your dreams when you wake up. If you wake up during the night, try to write down your dreams then. It's harder than it sounds, but if you do it, and if you keep a detailed journal, you can compare your notes against current events. You may see patterns or matches between your journal and what is happenning. This is pretty difficult to prove, but you can again get a sense of what it's like to test your skills.

Regarding Tarot cards and sensing spirits, these are difficult to test since there is really no reliable external stimuli that you can test against. You need to use your intuition and trust your instincts.

Can you improve these skills? There are 4 skills involved here. First, you must recognize that there is something non-physical occuring. Second, you must be able to differentiate between these events and your thoughts or imagination. Third, you must be able to interpret the information that you are receiving. Forth, you must be able to express these skills in a way that they will be useful to you and others.

You seem to be able to recognize that something is happenning. Through testing and practice, you will begin to differentiate when the stimuli is coming from within you and when it is coming from outside of you. That will give you more control and make it easier to focus your energies. Those are the first steps to improving your skills. Good luck!
Reply:I read several of the other answers before I decided to add my 2 cents-sense in....

Here's how my answer goes =

Paranormal translates out to: that which is beyond normal.

"Normal" ... therein lies a whole other dilemma. It used to be that people were ridiculed, even killed for professing to believe that the world was NOT flat. Back then, it was considered 'paranormal' or 'beyond normal' to believe, say, that the world was round. As conventional wisdom grew, from our increased/factual perspectives, it proved out that indeed, the world was round!

I believe that you will find help in the two books referenced in answer from Mr. Weaver/psiexploration. Like most everything, practice and focus will reveal if there is true strength in your gifts and to what extent you are willing to explore and pursue them. Take caution, always, in who and what you allow to teach and/or guide you. You can see, by the market difference in the answers you have received, that there are many "opinions" out there.

From me to you: May God bless and keep you in your search and white light upon you always and in all ways.
Reply:There is no way to know for sure. If your dreams are surprisingly accurate, it is likely something is at work here.
Reply:many people convince themselves that they have paranormal gifts, but nobody has yet been able to demonstrate any paranormal gifts in a controlled enviroment. The people you see in shows are doing magic tricks, even John Edward and Sylvia Brownes psychic abilities are a popular magic trick known as cold reading.

Sylvia Browne has even accepted a challenge to prove her abilities in a controlled enviroment 4 years ago, but has yet to clear one day in her busy schedule to show the world that she is for real. Which indicates, that she knows she is not for real.

I am sorry if you were looking for a more exciting and magical answer, but you said mature answers only. This is the mature answer.
Reply:Do you know why you like to enter in that unknow realm?, because you are a spirit inside a flesh body. So you are looking for your final destination. The house of the spirits. Heaven or hell. It takes time sometimes to get there.. That is the reason why you are searching for the unknown place. God know it, and Satan too.

But let me tell you, you are walking in the wrong path, in the shadow of spiritual dead. Hell is there. Why don't you come to the Lord Jesus Christ, forget about the Tarot cards, Come to Jesus for Him to teach you all what you want to know and even more?. "Bless are the people whose God is the Lord." (Psalm 15).

You know that together with you the curse falls over the rest of the family when you enter into that realm? But you need to know it. Who knows if God want you to enter in that kind of realm and latter on He may take you out of there to work for Him, latter on, in His camp of warriors of Him. Who knows? God knows. Sometimes we have to go through hell, before we step in the Lord's path. I rather walk in God's path, a path of beauty, of knowledge, wisdom and discernment, a free path of love, peace and joy. A path where we can enjoy good things and throw out the bad things. A path of the good God that will let us see the unknow of Him. His richness.

I bet your parents have no idea what you getting in to it. There is not supervision. I told you already.

The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it. A fool finds preasure in evil conduct, but a man of understanding delights in wisdom. (Proverbs 10:22-23).

Look for Jesus Christ and believe me, you are going to learn and know even more than what you are looking for and in the correct way. He is your Lord and Saviour. This is the path that you should look for and walk in. But believe me, you are going in the way of knowing Satan's kingdom. Get out of there, if you want. It is your own decision, like a game. You play if you want or you do not play.

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish. There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. (Proverbs 14:11-12).

Pray to the Lord God for Him to guide you in the right direcction. If not, later on you are going to regret it. I know what I am talking about. Please, do not fall prisoner of Satan. Be free in Jesus Christ. Accept him as you Lord and Saviour. If you want to pray and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, just let me know, and I will send you this kind of prayer.

God bless you.
Reply:I totally agree with psiexploration.

Don't listen to the idiots that answer your question with their own thoughts. get the books that address your question to a tee.
Reply:Good luck.

Reply:There are two excellent books on this subjects:

1. "Guidelines for Testing Psychic Claimants" by Richard

Wiseman and Robert Morris

2. "Test Your Psychic Powers" by Susan Blackmore

Also the web site for the Parapsychological Association

http://www.parapsych.org has links to psi games which test for certain abilities.

FYI: You can't test for paranormal gifts because the term covers too many things. You can test for future events (like choosing a card before the card is selected by a computer) and other specific abilities.

I suggest you read some of the free online articles to see how they conduct some of the testing.
