Any ideas for gifts i can make at home?

really tired of buyin gifts, its For my parents anniversary. wanna try makin somethin at home so it could be remembered

Any ideas for gifts i can make at home?
I like butterfield's idea, but I suggest that instead of a scrapbook make a good sized Handmade Photoframe, plus , you can buy a set of mugs (two same plain colours) and write some sweet thoughts yourself for your parents.

Also you can think of making something Else that is useful for them... FOR INSTANCE if your mom loves to collect music, then make her a CD wallet or something like that. For your Pa something for his taste and use....
Reply:use all the old magazines and newspaper you have... with your creativity, design a card for them. Pictures in magazines can be really helpful for all sorts of gifts.. cheers
Reply:You could try making a shadow box - they are fairly easy to make, and can be very nice ways to display items that have significant meanings. Any craft store would have the materials necessay for this project, and you can find items to put within the box from your home.

My sister, mom, and I made a shadow box for my older sister for some of her wedding things. We took blue fabric that was the color of the bridesmaids dresses and lined the back with it, and then placed a program, ribbon from the flower boquets, sugar flowers from her cake, and her and her husbands place cards inside, and she absolutely loved it. You could do something similar for your parents, weather it be of a place they love, or a special memory.
Reply:well there are many things you can do but it depends on what your thinking of. one thing i saw that i thought was quite nice was a nice dinner plate some one had glued family photos they cut to different sizes and shapes to make them fit and be round.then put a sealent on them and glued a ribbon on the back to hang it.That would only cost what the glue cost and sealent. If you have a fancy plate it would be so pretty. How far away is the anniversary. i have also seen where people take quilt squares and put photos on them and make a memory quilt so many things can be done with things you have and only need to buy a couple of things to complete them. Like i took a basket i had and made a liner for it out of gingham and wrapped ribbon around the handle tightly and made a bow aat one end,and wove it throught the top edge of the basket too to match.
Reply:I saw a video someone had made for their parents fifth wedding anniversary. They took photos of their parents as babies and over the years growing up, they labeled each section things like "John's early years" "Mary's angelic childhood" etc til they got to the years when they were a couple "When John met Mary" with photos of them dating each other leading up to marriage. Then of course after the marriage the years with their children all the way to present day. Each section had a song playing in the background that represented something about the person or the period. It was beautifully done and will probably be cherished for several generations.

If you are not handy with electronics and don't know anyone who might help you to do something like that. Then create a scrap book for them, dig up photos from other family members and friends, try to find things your parents haven't seen in years.

My sister made a scrap book for me for Christmas a couple of years ago and its the best gift she ever gave me, I love it!
Reply:make copies of the photos that they have...from begining to now and give that as a gift..in a scrap book
Reply:A friend of mine uses old, broken tile to make really nice table tops. He buys a regular table from the store and adds the tile to the top. I think it adheres to regular tile grout.

There are some home improvement stores that will give you broken tile for free. You have complete freedom with the design.

Good luck!
Reply:*Can you recall anything you have done as a child as a craft that your parents (especially Dad) was so proud of? Try to broaden the deed and re-create this--

*Do you embroider? Can you sew? Can you make pottery? Can you draw/ paint? Can you photograph?

*There is a book called 'Photocraft'. It is about a year old. It gives a great amount of ideas to make with photos. Some are a lampshade out of photos (iron ons), how to arrange photographs, even how to make an elaborate shower curtain!

* Take your parents out for a picnic during a festival or community event they like to attend and photograph the day. Make a great meal for them and then make matching t-shirts or frame a photo of the event.

* You could even make meals and have them ready to cook for a homemade meal for folks on the run. Make Dad's favorite! Include candles!

* If the anniversary is just with the family, make a memory for your parents. After the meal, everyone reminisce about their favorite childhood memory with your parents. Capture it on videotape, have family members make the entertainment for the day. Play a fun game. Just give them a great day with their children that they won't forget.

** Most of all make it very personal -just from you!
