How many gifts do you get your kids?

I was just curious as to how many "santa" presents you get your kids. Do you always try to keep it a certain number every year? I think most people over do it and buy to much, I know I do. I have three children and I think 5 gifts each is reasonable. What are your thoughts?

It all depends on how much each item costs. This year my husband splurged on my daughter (age 10), got her a new I-pod, so I only got her some clothes (3 pieces) as her other gifts. My son,19, got only three things since all of his items cost a little bit more than my daughter's clothes. It bugs me that my husband got the i-pod because I want her to know that Christmas is about giving, not about what you get.
Reply:I spend about £150 on each child (I have two).





My youngest gets a couple of Thomas The Tank Engine playsets, some playdough, a couple of books, some sweets, pencils, jigsaw etc.





My eldest gets Playstation games and some Star Wars stuff, a couple of books, sweets and pens/pencils.





I put the small stuff in a Santa stocking and the larger stuff goes under the Christmas Tree.





I don't agree with going over the top and getting into lots of debt to buy stuff.
Reply:I have two boys five and three year old. I might of overdone because I am single mom and past years I had hard time getthing them things. And also alot of their toys need to replace because they outgrew them. I was had a huge check that I need spend in 6 months. But this would be the only year. Also my three year seem to get little more then my five year old because his birthday is 5 days after christmas. He getting a brithday party this year and he get to invite his friends.
Reply:It really depends on how much the gifts are. Usually 1 big wow pressie and a few others but I do try and get most of the things on their lists but always within reason and without the use of credit cards.

Reply:I have three kids and usually spend about $200-$250 each although i even feel that is probably too much as i'm a single mum. I love it though. I try make it even though that can be hard. I think i usually get bout 5 each too.


I think people(me) try and make up for everything through the year.
