What gifts do you suggest I give to my mother to make her feel young and happy?

She recently suffered a heart-attack. Want to cheer her up.

A little Blue Bird of Happiness. Gift shops usually have small glass or crystal "Blue Birds". They are meaningful to many older women and they enjoy receiving them when they are recovering from irreparable damage to their body or Self or "femininity" images. It's a Disney - like hearkening back or an understandable emotional reflection back to our little girl hopes and dreams. She would treasure it for the rest of her life and especially so because it came from her son. (And nag her endlessly to do all of her cardiac rehab activities as prescribed.)

Reply:I am terribly sorry about your mother. I wish her and your family luck during this time.

I would say a good way to cheer her up(if you have the money) is to wine and dine her. Take her out and get her a pretty new outfit. Send her to the spa/salon to get a massage and her hair and/or makeup done. Take her to a nice restaurant and enjoy a pleasant evening with good conversation. It's a good time to open up about your life and ask her about hers. Just make a somewhat typical(nothing too crazy) but fun and comfortable day.

Good luck and I'm sure whatever you decide to do, as long as it's thoughtout and comes from the heart, your mother will love and appreciate it.

Is there anything that she just loved to do when she was younger but stopped having time to do it because of raising you and your siblings and well...life? Ask around to other family members and then set something up that you can do together. Not knowing how recovered she is...I guess it would be wise to stay away from anything where she couldn't quite handle it physically yet.

In general...something light and funny to get her mind off of her health is always a good idea. They say laughter is the best medicine, after all.

Good luck. I'm sure whatever you come up with you mom will appreciate.
Reply:Awww, I'm so sorry. A pretty summer dress.

Unless your mom hates dresses. What type of woman is she?

Just don't get her a knick knack or something she hangs on her wall. I dread the day I reach the age where people think thats what I want.
Reply:Flowers, if you can ask around (her friends, your siblings) and find what type of flowers are her favorites. Then put them all over the house. Even if it's just one in each room.
Reply:iam sorry, how about her favorite flower, her favorite perfume, Get her a nice diary, and hold her hand and be with her
Reply:Why don't you and her go and get your hair, and nails done.
