How do I respond to gifts sent for my elopement?

Etiquette says that gifts shouldn't be asked for or given for an elopement; however, my fiance and I have already received two (cash).

How should we respond to anyone else asking what we'd like or want from them? Basically, how do we turn them down politely?

How do I respond to gifts sent for my elopement?
Simple. Tell them that "gifts are not necessary". But if you really want to be accomodating, tell them that if they want to give you something, have them give a donation in your name to some organization. That way you don't actually receive anything and they are doing something good.
Reply:Just send them thank-you cards and be done with it. As for anyone else, say "Thank you, but we have everything we need".

Congratulations.
Reply:Just simply say:" thank you but there is no need for you to trouble yourself, we have everything we need, but we do appreciate your thoughtfullness".
Reply:"Thank you for asking, but you don't need to get us anything."

As far as the people who already sent gifts, no need to turn them down. They sent the money of their own volition. Just write them a nice thank-you card.
Reply:Treat them to dinner and/or drinks with their gift money. Enjoy!
Reply:Don't forget...Sometimes the gift giver gets a great deal of pleasure doing something nice. Perhaps you are depriving someone of a blessing..? Send thank you cards...
