How do I politely say NO GIFTS on my babys 1st birthday invitations?

We really do not want any gifts at all. She has everything she needs, and simply want people to show up. thanks.

There is no polite way. Some people say "No Gifts, Your Presence Is All We Need" or something like that, but you shouldn't mention gifts in any way at all on an invitation.
Reply:Recently recieved an invitation that read this:





As _____'s first birthday is finally here,


We're inviting friends and personalized dear.


To choose a favorite story or fairy tale


That you would like her to hear.


Instead of a gift, please let ___ look,


At your special choice of a book.


And then to ____will her mother read


With all the love a child will need.


So with a personal touch, please choose a book


And in it then your name do put.


It need not cost more than a card


Just pick a favorite, it shouldn't be hard!





You could play around with the wording to make it fit like you want it to read.





You could say something about only expecting their prescence instead of presents. Then just verbally put the word out and it will get passed on.

Reply:If you post "No Gifts" in any manner at all, it may be misconstrued that you're expecting cash.





You might say someting like, "We are requesting your company or presence and best wishes only".





That may indicate no gifts without saying it.

How about specifying on the invite that all gifts will be donated to a local Children's Hospital. But even if you get something you may like, you have to give it away.

We only ask the gift of your time. Please don't bring boxes and bags of brightly wrapped gifts."
Reply:Don't put it on the invitations - you're not supposed to address the issue of gifts at all on them. You can tell a few people and let them get the word out.
Reply:Tell them in lieu of gifts for your baby they can donate a gift in her name to a local charity or terminally ill kids.
