What are some unique ways to present gifts for a gift exchange?

My brother in law always has amazing, unique ways of presenting gifts. Last year, he froze the gift in a bucket of water. When his recipient unwrapped his gift it was an ice pick. He had to chisel out the actual gift. The year before he bought 500 envelopes, placed a gift card in one, sealed them all. Then nailed them in a wooden box. We have done scavenger hunts as well. I really need to get him this year! PLEASE HELP!

Take walnuts and carefully crack them open, empty the nut out of them, then insert money or small gifts, glue the nuts back together, and give them as a gift. You can put them in a nice container with the tools to crack them open, if you wish.
Reply:Those are pretty clever ideas. You could put the gift in a full garbage can (gross, though), hide it in a box of washing powder (powdered laundry detergent), put it at the bottom of a swimming pool. In winter, that would be mean!

:-)
Reply:Buy him a gift card, then buy ten plants. Bury his gift

in one of the plants. Hand him spade. Of course he'll have to locate the plants hidden somewhere in the backyard? In order to locate the correct plants he'll have to solve clues which will lead him to all of the plants.
Reply:You could do a MASSIVE box full of foam peanuts that he has to dig through, and then not even have the gift in it. lol
