Do you think Huckabee's willingness to except all gifts large and small is a positive attribute for candidate?

Considering as Governor for Arkansas he claimed approximately $100k worth of gifts given to him and his wife in one year. He registered at Target when he was moving out of his Governor mansion. So are these postive attributes for a person who is seeking the Presidency? Their willingness to receive gifts from anybody.

Do you think Huckabee's willingness to except all gifts large and small is a positive attribute for candidate?
I am becoming very disenchanted with Mr. Huckabee the more his record is examined. To be honest the fact that he registered at Target for gifts pales in comparison with:





1. He won't release his sermons when he was a full-time minister. Isn't that part of the job as a minister to "minister".


2. The Covenant Pledge he signed stating that his wife would be subservient to him.


3. His less than Christian platform toward people with AIDS. Yes this was many years ago but well after medical experts stated that the disease was not transmitted by person to person contact.
Reply:At least he did not "loot" the Governors mansion like the Clinton's did the White House.





And speaking of gifts... how have all of those illegal Chinese men and women afford to give Hillary $2000 in campaign contributions when they earn under $15000 a year....





and you are complaining about declared (legal) gifts.

As long as he declares them and they are within the rules what's the problem?





Accepting a gift does not have to put someone under any obligation and many are thanks for services past, not bribes in the hope of favors in future.
Reply:Actually Huckabee and his wife received a total of $150 K over the period of 10 1/2 years.





The gifts were from Coca Cola - a plastic canoe worth $ 500.





A stadium blanket worth $ 200. from a co-worker.





The list goes on like this, I read and re-read looking for the smoking gun myself.





But in conclusion, receiving a total of $ 15 K a year is not much for his position.





Bottom line is that people liked him enough to give him gifts and he did the right thing by claiming them.
