What are the best gifts for children up to age 8? Please list for girls and boys or for both. I also what to know about availability and pricing.
What are the best gifts for children up to age 8?
Usually kids that age will tell you (and everyone else) exactly what they want. If you don't know ask a parent or someone who spends time with the child, or if the child is really young you can ask them yourself, and it will still be OK. Then just use your discretion and make sure what they want is appropriate, in your price range, etc.
Reply:Wow! That Santa thing sounds like fun. That's a really awesome thing you are doing. Best of luck and many blessings. Report It
Reply:ask them.
Reply:My daughter age 5 and her friend age 6 are into the "dress up" and "makeup" thing. My son age 9 is into science experiments %26amp; trucks. I like to get them each a toy a book and an outfit each year.
Reply:They have pogo sticks at toys r us for $20 each. My son is 8 and I got him a national geographic solar system that lights up on his wall so that he can look at the different constellations, I would also suggest a talking piggy bank so they can learn money and saving it...my daughter loved hers.
Reply:Gran Theft Auto
Reply:depends boy and or girl?boy like something cool girl i bet they will love something new from the brats dolls
Reply:A gun, bottle of whiskey, and pack of unfiltered camels in a finely stained oak box.
Reply:depends on what they are into... I have a 9 yo and he is really into how things work. I get them science experiments like mineral growing, and sets to learn how motors work and really hands on things. I dont believe in video games and junk like that....unless it is working coordination and focus in his mind for positive things....like building a track to make a car race on it or a train. That is an idea. Prices...any range - depends on where you pruchase and availability - depends on what you're after. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:they probably have alot of toys, so would try and buy them clothes, or give them money so they could choose what they want.
Reply:A board game
Reply:coal......gr8 gift for either girl or boy
oh ya.....and its super cheap too......they'll love you for it ;)
Reply:when you have them all at your house, (b4 xmas) give them sales papers, then give them each different color markers, and make note of who has wut color, then tell them to circle 1 thing that they want this is traditional in our family on thnksgiving
Reply:Books!!! Not just any old book, but a certificate signed by you stating that you will arrange special time (maybe lunch or even dinner out) to take them to get 2 or 3 books of their choice. "Helping" them pick out books gives them the message that you think reading is important, it encourages them to read and it gives them what they really want, time with you. If your child id dealing with a particular problem, going to the dentist, starting a new school, not having friends, etc., there is a book written about just that topic and how someone got through it. It's good all around. Happy shopping!
Reply:The Toy's R Us website (www.toysrus.com) has gifts listed and you can click on the age you are buying for. Then you can sort toys by prices. You will see a description and pictures.

Should I give gifts to my baby shower host?
I have a group of close friends giving me a baby shower in two weeks. I need ideas of what I can give them as thank you gifts for doing this for me. Would it be inappropriate to give them something dealing with the baby such as a picture frame with the baby's 3-d Ultra-sound picture in it or something personalized with what my child will call them ex. Nanny Heather... Please any ideas would beappreciated .
Should I give gifts to my baby shower host?
You don't need to buy them a gift. However, your idea is sweet and I am sure they would appreciate it!
Reply:The framed 3-D ultrasound picture is a lovely idea. That will no doubt be a wonderful keepsake of the shower and all the great memories of your special day. I think your girlfriends will appreciate it. Good idea!
You could also give gift certificates for a manicure, a Starbucks gift certificate or a massage. Planning a baby shower is a lot of work. I did one for my best friend. She took me out to a nice restaurant for dinner as a thank you. When my husband's sister threw me a baby shower I wrote her a beautiful hand written letter detailing how much I appreciated everything and gave her a magnet that said what a blessing she was to me. On mother's day that year I bought her a beautiful statue of a mother and two little boys as she is the mother of two grown sons and she had tears in her eyes.
Anything thoughtful would be a meaningful way of expressing your thankfulness!
Congratulations new Mommy!
Reply:I don't know if an ultrasound is appropriate really, I am sure they were excited to see it, but it may not mean as much to them as it does to you, in the way of a keepsake that is.
Thank them each for individual things they have done for you during this pregnancy, and how much you value their friendship in a lovely note on pretty stationary, perhaps a small token that has to deal with friendship, making them each different, to show their individual styles or tastes.
Reply:If you want to give them a small token, make it something consumable like a gift card to a restaurant or such. Your baby's ultrasound picture or some other trinket, while thoughtful, will probably end up in a drawer in short order. Even a nice card would be sufficient.
Reply:Don't feel that you have to do anything. The baby shower is all for you. I did just hostess a baby shower where the mommy to be gave us each a small gift. We each got a coffee mug with a single packet of flavored coffee to make, a wrapped homemade lemon square, and a few pieces of chocolate candy. I think it was the perfect gift.
Reply:You could give them each a small gift (I like the personalized idea you have) or take them out for a thank you luncheon or spa day. The very least you would do is send them a handwritten thank you.
Reply:the party is for you, don't feel obliged to buy an expensive gift for the hosts, just give them a nice thank you card with some pictures of all of you from your special day.

What are good gifts to bring abroad from the US?
when i lived in japan, the japanese folks had a distinct taste for american liquor (jack daniels, jim beam) some of my friends really liked the jim beam collectible bottles. also, they liked getting things like canned hams ( boy was that a favorite) fancy coffees, little nicely packaged boxes of fancy cookies and treats too. you might even try something like a crackerbarrel gift box (with cheeses and sausages).
Reply:I don't know what your politics are and I apologize before hand if I offend you, but I am a very liberal democrat and I have found that most people from other countries do not understand our policies under the Bush administration. I bring t-shirt for the upcoming election which support Democratic candidates. A few years ago I was in Europe and brought my friends Kerry/Edwards shirts and they were incredibly popular.
Mind you, I am not a big fan of anti-W shirts. It's still our elected government and no matter how much I disagree with current policies I am still a patriot and would never disparage our country.
I just really like supporting the democratic process and free speech. Two very American things.
you can find some great options at www.cafepress.com
I just bought my "Barack Star" shirt there.

What are some good ideas on gifts for a bridal shower?
I have never been to a bridal shower. What are good gifts for the bride? Do I get a gift for both the groom and the bride?
What are some good ideas on gifts for a bridal shower?
Gifts are usually for the bride or for the couple's home. Find out if she's registered anywhere and then look over the registry. Many stores will have the registry available on-line which is very helpful. Often you can purchase something off the registry and have it shipped either to you or directly to the couple.
From the registry you'll be able to get an idea of the bride's sense of style and decorating sense. Usually the bride and groom will register for items that they need or want to replace. You can find out their color schemes for the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. This is very helpful if you choose to purchase something not on the registry or if you're hand making a gift.
One of the gifts I like to give is a "pamper basket". I look at the registry to find out the colors the bride has chosen for her bathroom. I then buy a basket at a craft store that will go with the bathroom decor. I fill the basket with scented shower gel, lotion, body spray, shower puff or sponge, a pretty candle w/ holder (that will match the bathroom) and some chocolates. I wrap the basket in tulle and finish it with a bow or ribbon in a matching color. Sometimes I'll tie some pretty silk flowers to the basket too. The basket is so easy to put together and is always a hit. I can usually find all the items (except for the basket, tulle and ribbon) at Target, Walmart or drug store. The whole thing usually runs me between $20-30.
Reply:Something they're registered for. Take it from me, a bride appreciates it when you STICK TO THE LIST. You can always "dress up" or personalize something she wants -- add a fancy cake mix to a bundt pan, or add fun napkin rings to her table linens. But, trust me, they picked those things because they want them.
Reply:Get her a gift certificate to a furniture store.
Reply:I got LOTS of stuff that I didn't need (like a door knocker, for example) so get them something they registered for... or if there is a theme like there was a my sister-in-law's buy something within the theme. Her's was gardens, so we got them a whole garden tool set and a really pretty lily plant for their garden.
Reply:Best bet is to go with a gift card to say a day spa or something like out to eat someplace nice Im sure that they will both enjoy something like that
Reply:dishes or something they can use in their house. i'd get one gift directed to both of them, the party's for the bride, see if they have a list of what they want that could help.
Reply:A friend of mine started a website for gifts, its pretty cool. The website is www.rlanz.ordermygift.com They are gift albums that definantly do the trick. Check it out and let me know if it helps.

Will we look rude and cheap if we give this as Christmas gifts?
My husband and I are on a tight budget this year and we're not going to have much money to spend on Christmas gifts. The only person we are planning on buying a gift for is my 6 year old brother and we were going to give homemade, frosted sugar cookies and homemade chocolate dipped pretzels to everyone else (our parents, grandparents and adult siblings). I saw some pretty Christmas tins at the dollar store to put them in.
Will we look cheap and rude doing this? We really can't afford to spend much this year.
Will we look rude and cheap if we give this as Christmas gifts?
I would say no, especially if your family knows about your situation. But I would find some other little things to show that you put effort into the gifts. My mom has a big family and didn't really want to spend money on everyone so she did a cookie in a jar (has all the dry ingredients) they loved it.
Reply:No,its a very thoughful gift thats useful.I too am on small budget and I also do a few of these type gifts and I find they are always appreciated.Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Reply:no you wont but you can give out candy canes small christmas toy stuff, choclates, packages of food and coco and walmart, popcorn buckets, raindeer antlers, movies that are only 5 bucks
Reply:No, it is a gift from the heart. It is the thought that counts, and who can turn down cookies? Add some nice ribbon to dress it up and make sure to include a heart felt card!
Reply:What i have a good idea you could make you sonplay dough
Reply:I prefer homemade gifts to those that are purchased %26amp; I give homemade gifts every year too. A lot of time %26amp; energy goes into baking %26amp; decorating cookies, and it shows people that you care enough to spend your time on them.
Reply:Not at all. Taking time to make a gift for someone means so much more than going into debt.
Reply:I would say that no one will think negatively of you, especially if they know your situation. Just try to give it some personal touches. As tacky and overused as the expression is, it really is the thought that counts. Your loved ones will know that you wish you could do more.
Reply:i LOVE those kinds of gifts! cookies are great and i would use the tin for other stuff, it's a win win for me!
Reply:No you do not if you are on a tight budget. If you were rich or you had money to spend, then you would be rude and cheap.
Reply:NO I think your family will understand
Reply:NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fact that you will be taking your time, making it with love , and doing it togeather with your husband makes it very special. Anyone can buy a gift card because it's easy but you are giving of yourself. Great ideas!!!!!!!!!
Reply:A container of goodies is a wonderful gift. Your love and attention year round is what matters most!!
Reply:I am sure if you explain your financial situation to people (especially family) they should understand. If not, tell them they can pay your bills as a Christmas gift to you and your husband!

I use the free gifts application, but why did Facebook even add a price to giving gifts in the first place?

That was the case, but after February 2007 they stopped donating to charity and all the proceeds since have gone into the owner's pockets. Report It

Reply:they are cheap on face book. I would never spend my money on it either.

Google and Yahoo made offers to buy Facebook which were rejected..!!
Not surprisingly

If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's that simple.
Reply:Because facebook wants to gain money. Anyway, there are other applications in facebook where gifts are free. Search them up. They have growing gift applications, or free gifts applications. Reply:Why, no idea. But anyone who does it is crazy.
It's just a website that is popular for a while and will be passe tomorrow, lol.I use facebook, but I haven't added those stupid applications. Some people have everything and it looks awful!

How much do americans spend on average for christmas gifts every year?
how much is sharged onto credit cards for these gifts? how long does it take to pay off what you put on the card?
How much do americans spend on average for christmas gifts every year?
more than they can affort
Reply:Americans are rich unlike us Mexicans.
Reply:We do not charge gifts, our kids are grown and married but we quit charging about 3 or 4 years before they left home. We give each adult $50, and each grandchild either $20 or a gift. We also give each family a new game to play on Christmas, usually a board game.
Reply:Not all Americans have the same ability to spend. Many do charge their gifts and paying off debt has become a national crisis. Some Americans simply need a place to sleep or eat. Its sad that we place so much emphasis on the dollar amount of a gift rather than the thoughtfullness put into it and the joy of giving. Enough editorial. This year I will spend no more than 25 dollars per child outside of my two who I will spend about 150 each. My wife would like a 100 carat diamond ring and a BMW 740 *sigh* , bit alas she will not get them this year. I want for nothing but the love of my family and a few of those priceless kisses and whispers of "I love you papi" from my daughter, a big smile on my sons face and the loving gaze of an adoring wife.
Reply:Depends on your credit card that you have, but Christmas is THE BIGGEST spending holiday in US. there is no other one that make more profit.
Reply:Well, we are either wise or cheap. But our average is like $15 per gift. A little more on a couple of special people. But I do buy for 3 trashmen, mailman, and the paperman. Oh, and a couple of special neighbors. Maybe that is why we our house is paid for along with our cars. We charge NOTHING! It's not worth suffering all year trying to pay off a credit card account, when half the time, people forget what you bought them in the first place.
Reply:$790.00 1/3 on credit cards. Too long
Reply:About 250.00 per person.
Reply:Credit card giant MasterCard Worldwide released a report on Monday that found the average American intends to shell out nearly $700 this winter on festivities such as Christmas, with almost $300 of that sum spent online for gifts.
Reply:Too much.
Reply:all depends on how big your family is and how many friends you buy for. cannot forget how many flings you have on the side and of course their children also. to sum it up, way to much.
Reply:Way too much and it takes us until May or June to pay it off!
