I work for a non profit that deals with victims of domestic violence, mostly women. Is there any organization that would be willing to donate approximately 90 gifts for the holiday season?
Know of any company that donate gifts to adult women for the holidays?
As had been suggested try some local stores and organizations. Local high schools might be willing to help %26amp; churches. The one individual that answered that christmas is for kids--while that is true this time of the year is hard on those women who are victims of domestic violence. They are out of the situation and are trying to pick up the pieces of their life. They are feeling worthless %26amp; lonely-- sometimes just alittle something--perfume,bubble bath,body lotion,a simple blouse--something that would brighten their day and help them get through it is very helpful
Reply:Try a local Kiwanis club or a high school Key Club. These are both community service organizations that do just the type of thing you are talking about. You can locate a local club by going to Kiwanis.org and doing a local club search.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
Reply:I would think that some of your local churches would be willing to donate gifts for the women. Talk to the church secretary.

Reply:As far as I know, the Holiday gifts donations are really for the children...we adults know Santa does not exist. You should be planning a great Lunch or Dinner for the adults...good music, etc.... don't you think?
Reply:You are looking for a company willing to donate to your organization. Finding a donor will be difficult this close to the season. I suggest looking in your local area, by searching online. Without knowing your local area, I thought of Toys for Tots, Make a Wish, Salvation Army and my local news channel. I also know that the local Police League does something like this every year. Some high schools can pull it off too.
A bit of advice: 1) always check out your charities to see if they are legit.
2) type up a "request" that you can fax
3) Be specific-inviting and concise
4) fax to companies, hospitals, churches, police leagues, magazines that feature your local city, fireman's leagues, schools, and anything else you can think of.
5) Follow up the fax with a phone call.

Reply:Yes, a lot of organizations would jump on that. A lot of companies like to do stuff like that with their employees around the holiday season. Look for companies in your area and contact their human resourse department. It is kinda late in the game, seeing christmas is in about 4 weeks, but you might still be able to find something.

What are some good little gifts to give guests at a baby shower?
My sis is having a baby shower in 2 weeks and she can't think of any cute gifts to give the guests when they win a game. Any ideas please feel free to share :)

Chocolate is always nice. It is not something that will be more clutter for people, but will be enjoyed right away.
You could get personalized candy if you are interested in something like that for the shower or just use small boxes of chocolates, etc. for the prizes.

I also bought a huge box of chocolates and made them up into little pillow boxes which are available in a craft store, or somewhere that sells card making/scrapbooking supplies etc with a few chocolates in each and with a thankyou card attached for each person that attended. that way no one left with nothing and it was a simple way to just say thankyou to your guests for coming.

We are planning to get her a Fisher Price Baby Gymnastics Bounce and Ride Zebra, and a Disney Winnie the Pooh Teachin Lights Phone ourselves, but what are some other gifts that her cousins and grandparents, etc. can get for her that are in the $20 and under price range?

My daughter JUST had her 1st birthday a month ago. We asked everyone to get her board books....because she LOVES them. They are inexpensive and this is a great age to start introducing books!! My daughter just loves flipping through the pages and looking at the colorful pictures!!
Other great gifts are blocks to build towers (alphabet blocks are great...Target sells a huge set of them for around $10.00). There is a great learning toy put out by Leap frog called "LuLu The Letter Spinning Spider"....BOTH of my girls have adored this!!
Other things my daughter enjoys are things she can sort.....blocks (again), links, pop beads (the big plastic ones that pop into each other), and play food (she plays with my 2 year old's play kitchen and play food way more than my 2 year old does!!)

But kids that age love to push or pull things, so maybe a lil wagon, or a baby doll with a stroller. One of those dolls that has buckles, buttons, zippers and velcro straps, are good to start teaching how to dress and undress. Play doh is messy at times but that would be good. They have machine washable teddy bears that come with special markers, so she can draw whatever she wants in it the bear goes in with the laundry and comes out a clean slate . Buy her something that makes her think and figure things out
Reply:Sometimes people forget about the outdoor items that kids love. How about a picnic table and umbrella? My son is now 2 and still loves his! Also if you have enough room outside Step2 makes a cute little sliding board perfect for a 1 year old and a little water table where they can play boats and have lots of fun when it's warmer in a few short months. It is called counting pall. I also bought a elmo water baby. I got it at walmart for under 20. Also the baby einstein items are a great gift. Reply:Around 9-10 months my daughter discovered board books. She loved them and still reads them to this day (she just turned 3). So, they are timeless, and since they are gender neutral they are ready to go for when my 4.5 month old son gets old enough. We can't get too many books. Some board books have flaps that we didn't pry open for the first time until she was old enough to not rip the flaps off. So eventually the book grows with them and has a whole new set of things to look at. We have gotten a lot of use out of the Fisher Price Little People flap board books. There is so much to look at the she will just sit and study them forever. Also the FP Little People toys (animals, people, zoos, barns, farms, ark, dinosaurs, etc) are for ages 1-5. So, they are years of fun. My daughter got her first ones at 1 and is still getting them now at 3. Finally, any Disney movie that is out of the vault. They hit the button and balls pop out of the top. some of the balls fall into the tray and go back through the popper, while others land on the floor for the child to pickup and put back in the popper. The best things to get and I'm not 100% sure what they are called, are those fisher-price blocks with animals and shapes inside. They are wonderful. Another great thing is play tunnels. Most are light weight cloth and fold up like sun visors in a cars windshield. If the baby is crawling or walking this would be a great thing for her. Also a TMX Elmo. My daughter loves hers and we got one for my niece who is 13 months and she cant stop laughing at it! Teethers are a good choice too. Shes too young right now to be upset about receiving gifts that are not what we would want. I also remember that my daughter liked the gift wrapping and boxes better than anything else! One final thing is crayola bath tablets. One tablet will turn her bath water into either blue, red or yellow (or use a couple tabs for more colors). The are totally safe and do not stain. They come in cat food sized plastic tubs and can be found at walmart in the bath section for less than $4.00. They are great for helping your baby learn colors while having fun! Hope this helps! How do I respond to gifts sent for my elopement?
Etiquette says that gifts shouldn't be asked for or given for an elopement; however, my fiance and I have already received two (cash).
How should we respond to anyone else asking what we'd like or want from them? Basically, how do we turn them down politely?

Is it legal for an elected official to give gifts to city employees during a re-election bid?
A sitting councilman is a current candidate for mayor. Gifts were placed at city employee work stations with a note to remember him and his candidate of choice for an open seat on the council on election day. The gifts were delivered after regular work hours at a city facility. Is this legal and how do community members report the activity to the election committee or should we waste our time reporting the activity . The election is November 6.

You're going to have to spend a "little" money for anything, but get some mason jars and get a good cookie recipe and layer the ingredients in the jar, add a decorative tag with the directions, add a decorative top and some ribbon, and voila. I saw the recipe on-line, search under "homemade gifts". Everyone Loves these.

Reply:In real life nothing is entirely free, because they generally require a bit of ribbon, or some glue or glitter... but there are some darn cheap ones:
The only completely free things to make are things made of natural supplies, like twig wreath ornaments. They can be very beautiful if you find the right twigs, with buds or small cones. Doogwood, alder pussywillow will bloom if brought indoors, and if you include a small cup at the base of the twigs to hold water. Budding heart shaped indoor wreaths are pretty special, you can't buy them because they have to be made almost immediately before hanging, and kept refrigerated while making (like doing it outdoors). Ornaments made of painted shells require a sharp knife to scratch the hole for hanging, a bit of wire and some paint, so if you don't have those things it is not free. Pine cones with some white granular substance like salt glued to the tips is pretty. These things depend on being in the right place to gather those things, and not everybody is in the right place.
Salt dough crafts are nearly free. You need salt, flour, water and and oven. Colors and textures can be got with all sorts of extra stuff, even dirt or sand. Having some walpaper paste or elmers glue makes a nicer texture in the dough. Here is a site that has a good recipe with descriptions of what to do to fix your dough if it is weird. Hint on this stuff: get the dough as thick and smooth as you can to avoid cracking in the oven.

You're going to have to spend a "little" money for anything, but get some mason jars and get a good cookie recipe and layer the ingredients in the jar, add a decorative tag with the directions, add a decorative top and some ribbon, and voila. I saw the recipe on-line, search under "homemade gifts". Everyone Loves these.

Reply:In real life nothing is entirely free, because they generally require a bit of ribbon, or some glue or glitter... but there are some darn cheap ones:
The only completely free things to make are things made of natural supplies, like twig wreath ornaments. They can be very beautiful if you find the right twigs, with buds or small cones. Doogwood, alder pussywillow will bloom if brought indoors, and if you include a small cup at the base of the twigs to hold water. Budding heart shaped indoor wreaths are pretty special, you can't buy them because they have to be made almost immediately before hanging, and kept refrigerated while making (like doing it outdoors). Ornaments made of painted shells require a sharp knife to scratch the hole for hanging, a bit of wire and some paint, so if you don't have those things it is not free. Pine cones with some white granular substance like salt glued to the tips is pretty. These things depend on being in the right place to gather those things, and not everybody is in the right place.
Salt dough crafts are nearly free. You need salt, flour, water and and oven. Colors and textures can be got with all sorts of extra stuff, even dirt or sand. Having some walpaper paste or elmers glue makes a nicer texture in the dough. Here is a site that has a good recipe with descriptions of what to do to fix your dough if it is weird. Hint on this stuff: get the dough as thick and smooth as you can to avoid cracking in the oven.

Some other ideas would be hair barretts, bobby pins, "scrunchies" etc for girls.
If they are for students, you can put pens, pencils, erasers etc.
You can include soaps and potpourris for some women.

Reply:anything from beads to soap to candles to bath salts etc. if you're shopping for people into crafts, fill 'em up w/ art supplies like glitter glue, erasers, trinkets you'll find at the art store. or if you're shopping for kids, fill 'em up w/ school supplies like stickers and pencils, erasers, tiny note pads, etc. or get those fizzy bath balls, different sizes/scents, everyone likes those! think of the receiver(s); what do they like or are into, and hope it's something small enough to fit inside the jars! good luck! (personally, i'd fill 'em all up w/ money!!! heh!)
